With Urubu Mobile you help to map the locations of running over wild and domestic animals across Brazil. It can be on highways, railways, dirt roads or even in cities.
Their records are evaluated by specialists and transformed into information for municipalities, highway concessions, governments and many other partners, who use this information to find out where accidents occur and propose protective actions. By protecting biodiversity you are also helping to protect human life.
Version 2.0 has been completely revamped, full of new features. Meet some:
- 6 levels of achievements: the more photos you upload, the higher your level. Can you get to Urubu-Rei?
- Register up to 4 photos of each animal hit and help our team to identify which species correctly;
- Have all your records in the app;

Every year more than 450 million wild animals are run over in Brazil, representing approximately 15 animals every second. Of this total, the vast majority are small animals, such as frogs, rodents and snakes, which are very important for the maintenance of larger species. However, there are also more than 40 million larger animals (jaguars, anteaters, dogs and wild cats, skunks and other species) that also die because we cross their natural environments with our vehicles. These impacts affect practically all species that live close to highways and railways, and can lead to several extinction.

The Urubu System was born at the Brazilian Center for Road Ecology (CBEE), at the Federal University of Lavras - MG and today it is developed by Environment, a startup that works to reduce the impacts of highways and railways on Brazilian biodiversity.
