Wow that doctor sounds like a dick. How someone can invalidate so many of your major life choices is beyond me. What did they think you should do instead? Have a bunch of kids cramped in a rented apartment working full time at a "normal" job having to fight to be paid what you're worth, and not having time to spend with them because of all the working anyway, it sounds like. As a fellow not-wanting-kids-business-owner I send that doctor about a thousand glares.
My guess is he was older, and his generation didn't have the same issues that we do with kids being more expensive than a single income home can support. Not to mention the opportunities that are available to us now that weren't available back in the day, potentially the only options he saw available to him when he was making these decisions was either complete boredom and ostracization from society or having kids. With all that said, there's a certain level of awareness (or lack thereof) that would bring someone to say something like that to someone they barely know.
I want to overnight some normalcy to you! Whew, it's been alot. It'll settle. Sometimes it sure is next thing, next thing, though.

100% agreed to everything you said. He was older. But yeah it really doesn't excuse what he said at all. He should've known better.
