LOVE SONGS FOR TODAY

LOVE SONGS FOR TODAY

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

(1 John 4:9-11 – NIV)

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

(Romans 8:38, 39 – NIV)

PUTTING OFF RECEIVING CHRIST?

PUTTING OFF RECEIVING CHRIST?

"GOD WANTS A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU"

“GOD WANTS A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU”

I posted the below poem in February of 2010 and thought I’d post it again for those persons who know that the Spirit of God is calling them to a place of repentance and relationship with the Father through accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, but keep putting it off, thinking, “I’ll do it later”, “I’ll do it when I get older” or “I’ll do it tomorrow”.

The poem is a reminder that tomorrow is not promised to anyone and death is no respecter of person, place, or time.

Hebrews 9:27 tells us it is appointed unto man once to die and after this the judgment so the time to receive Christ as your Savior and Lord is today.

SELAH!

Kim

Hardheaded Bill

His name was William his friends called him Bill,

He was still young, not quite over the hill,

His wife Sue, concerned about his eternal fate,

Pleaded, “Honey please accept the Lord before it’s too late”.

“I’ll get saved later Sue!” Bill sharply said,

His words cut through her spirit and hit her like lead,

“I’m successful, I’m healthy, I’m happy, I’m free,

I will not be tied down by that old drudgery.”

So Bill kept on going his own merry way,

He slept, ate, drank, worked and rose up to play,

But little did he know that the next day at four,

The death angel would visit and be knocking at his door.

He awoke early as usual doing his do,

Then sat at the table and had breakfast with Sue,

She held his hand tenderly again expressing her heart,

But to her dismay he wanted absolutely no part.

Bill left home that morning not giving Sue a nod,

Totally annoyed by her obsession with God.

He thought to himself I’m a hit not a miss,

Why does my wife have to carry on like this?

He entered his office dressed sharp as a tack,

Of compliments and adoring looks there was no lack.

He chaired the board meeting with agility and flair,

And left feeling good with his head in the air.

Walking back to his desk Bill began to feel strange,

It was 3:59, now his world would change.

Like an arrow a searing pain shot through his head,

And at 4:00 pm sharp he collapsed dead.

Bill’s coworkers were stunned, full of unbelief,

His wife Sue was laden with unfathomable grief,

How can this be? they all said,

How can a man so alive drop down dead?

The moral of the story is clear as can be,

Bill played around with eternity,

He was hardheaded though he knew what to do,

You’ve read about him, now what about you?

50 BOOKS THAT IMPACTED MY LIFE

50 BOOKS THAT IMPACTED MY LIFE

"I LOVE TO READ"

“I LOVE TO READ”

I am an avid reader.

I love to read.

In fact my mother told me that as a baby, she would give me cloth books to read and would lay in my crib “reading”, never once holding any upside down.

In primary school I recall feeling restricted by the library’s policy that only two books could be borrowed at a time because I would usually finish reading them very quickly and want to borrow more…….okay, I confess that sometimes I would sneak out more than two books, but I did make sure to return them.

I often bought books from the school’s book shop and borrowed them from the public libraries.

I often visited bookstores (and still do) just to see what books were available that I’d like to buy and read, or that the Lord directed me to buy and read.

As early as I can remember, I travelled with one or more books wherever I went; even as a corporate manager, I carried a stash of books to work in my brief case, for when I got a chance to read during lunch or after hours before going home.

In 1987 when I re-dedicated my life to the Lord, He told me to focus my reading on books that would edify my spiritual life and deepen my relationship with Him; not that I could not read others, but He made it clear that the majority of the books I read from that point on needed to be of that genre.

Some 26 years and well over 1000 books later, I am glad that I obeyed the Lord’s instruction because I came to realize that in doing so, He “enrolled” me in a “spiritual university” of sorts that fostered a great deal of spiritual knowledge, understanding and growth in my life and I truly thank Him for that.

Of course the most important, influential and only constant book in this journey has been, still is, and will always be the Bible, the greatest book of all and because it is God’s Truth, I sift all other writings, including those of fellow Believers in Christ, through the grid of its teachings, principles and standards for nothing transcends God’s Word. His Word is Truth (John 17:17), it will always stand (Isaiah 40:8), and is forever settled in the heavens (Psalms 119:89).

Having said this, today I want to share a list of 50 of the books I’ve read that have made a significant impact on my life.

IF YOU LOOK TO PEOPLE

IF YOU LOOK TO PEOPLE

'DON'T LOOK TO PEOPLE, LOOK TO GOD"

“DON’T LOOK TO PEOPLE, LOOK TO GOD”

If you look to people to be what only God can be in your life,

you will be disappointed.

If you look to people to do what only God can do in your life,

you will be disappointed.

If you look to people to solve what only God can solve in your life,

you will be disappointed.

If you look to people to change what only God can change in your life,

you will be disappointed.

If you look to people to fill what only God can fill in your life,

you will be disappointed.

If you look to people to ease what only God can ease in  your life,

you will be disappointed.

If you look to people to heal what only God can heal in your life,

you will be disappointed.

So don’t look to people,

Look to God.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.

(Psalms 118:8 – NIV, 1984)

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord.”

(Jeremiah 17:5 – NIV, 1984)

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.

(I Chronicles 16:11 – NIV, 1984)

Be encouraged!

DECIDE TO HAVE A GOOD DAY TODAY

DECIDE TO HAVE A GOOD DAY TODAY

"DETERMINE TO HAVE A GOOD DAY"

“DECIDE TO HAVE A GOOD DAY”

I challenge you this morning to decide to have a good day today no matter what comes your way.

To decide in advance to not allow any person or situation you meet steal your joy, peace and sense of purpose.

According to Romans 8:28, all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Do you love God?

Are you called according to His divine purpose?

Well guess what?

Even if something does not look good, feel good, or sound good, God will work it for your good so at the end of the day, it’s all good!

So rise up to the challenge, decide now to have a good day, and let this song by J. Moss bless and motivate you.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

(Psalms 118:24 – NIV, 1984)

Be encouraged and have a good day!

GOD WANTS TO DO A NEW THING IN YOUR LIFE IN 2013

GOD WANTS TO DO A NEW THING IN YOUR LIFE IN 2013

"GOD WANTS TO DO A NEW THING IN YOUR LIFE"

“GOD WANTS TO DO A NEW THING IN YOUR LIFE”

God wants to do a new thing in your life in 2013.

Isn’t that good news!

Do you want to know what it is?

Do you want to see it manifested?

Isaiah 43:18, 19 states:-

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” – (NIV, 1984)

To see the new thing God wants to do in your life will require you to forget the former things……even the former good things…..SELAH!

It will require you to not dwell on the past…….not even on the good past……SELAH!

It will require you to choose to release what was, whether good or bad, in order to embrace what already is, as far as God is concerned, and what will be, as far as you are concerned, once you get your perception aligned with His.

If your mind is wrapped up in things of the past, this is hindering your ability to see what God wants to do in your life now.

If you can not see what He wants to do in your life now, how can you receive it or walk in it?

A cup of water is no good to a thirsty man if he does not know it is there…..Selah!

To embrace the new thing God wants to do in your life, you need to see it, and to see it, you need to forget the former things and not dwell on the past.

What former thing(s) do you continuously remember?

What thing(s) from your past do you dwell on?

A past relationship you had, position you held, past financial state, career, or ministry?

A past school you once attended, country you once lived in, business, house or car you once owned?

A past, death, marriage, divorce, child or state of health?

A past hurt, disappointment, failure, success, or victory?

Maybe even a past move of God?

Whatever the case, today God says, forget it. Dwell on it no longer. Do this and it will unblock your vision and you will see the new thing I am doing in your life and know that I have already gone ahead of you to make the way.

God wants to do a new thing in your life in 2013.

Do you want to know what it is?

Do you want to see it?

He says:-

“Forget about what’s happened;
don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?
There it is! I’m making a road through the desert,
rivers in the badlands.”

(Isaiah 43:18, 19  – The Message Bible)

Now what are you going to do?

It’s up to you.

His help is just a prayer away.

God wants to do a new thing in your life in 2013.

Selah!

Kim

PASTORS ARE HUMAN TOO

PASTORS ARE HUMAN TOO

"PASTORS LEARN AS THEY LEAD"

“PASTORS ARE HUMAN TOO – THEY  LEARN AS THEY LEAD”

Do you have an unspoken belief that Pastors should be perfect?

That they should have:

Perfect manners

Perfect deportment

Perfect speech

Perfect dress

Perfect marriages

Perfect spouses

Perfect children

Perfect homes

Perfect people skills

Perfect leadership skills

Perfect communication skills

Perfect decision-making skills

Perfect scriptural knowledge

Perfect scriptural understanding

Perfect scriptural interpretation

Perfect scriptural delivery

Perfect timing

Perfect strength

Perfect availability

Perfect energy

Perfect discernment

Perfect sensitivity

Perfect clarity

Perfect solutions

Perfect administrative know-how

Perfect financial know-how

Perfect marketing know-how

Perfect technological know-how

Perfect faith

Perfect wisdom

Perfect joy

Perfect peace

Perfect emotional habits

Perfect sexual habits

Perfect eating habits

Perfect recreational habits

Do you have an unspoken belief that Pastors should be perfect?

Well if  you don’t, why do you sometimes act as if they should?

Pastors are human too.

They fight the same battles that you fight and many times on a more intense level because they are on the frontline and the enemy knows that if he can weaken the leader it will weaken the Body; if he can smite the shepherd the sheep will scatter.

Pastors are human too.

Just like you, they are on a spiritual journey of becoming more and more like Christ and growing in the things of God. They are ahead of you in some areas, and behind you in others. At times you stumble and fall along the way. At times they stumble and fall along the way.

A key difference though is that your journey and process is more private and theirs is more public. When you stumble and fall, you have the option to metaphorically “drop the curtain” and hide to heal, but when they fall short, most times their role demands that they stay on stage in the spot light and lead while they bleed………this is not easy!

Pastors are human too.

Like you, at times they get tired and frustrated, don’t exercise sufficient self-control, wonder if God is hearing their prayers, battle insecurity, are overcome by a sense of failure, have spiritually dry seasons, make poor parenting decisions, neglect their spouses, make poor health choices, mismanage finances, succumb to sexual temptation, and at times, because of the weight and pressure of the responsibility of leading and caring for God’s people, they just want to quit and walk away from it all……but God!

Pastors are human too.

They are simply people called and anointed by God to feed, nourish, care for, develop and lead His people, the Church, and let’s be honest, with the complex mixture of ages, races, personalities, backgrounds, cultures, experiences, mindsets, and expectations in the Church, this is not an easy task……..but God!

Pastors are not perfect.

If you search the scriptures, you will find that there was, is, and will only be one perfect leader, the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

All other leaders are on a continuum heading toward completion and maturity.

For even as great a leader as the Apostle Paul was, he admonished the Corinthian church to follow Him as he followed Christ (I Corinthians 11:1), not just to follow him.

In other words, if I in my humanness behave in a manner that is not of Christ, do not follow me. Only follow me as I follow Christ.

I believe it would do us well in the 21st century Church to adopt this same sage advice and posture toward Pastors.

Pastors are human too.

Instead of placing them on some unrealistic infallible spiritual pedestal, let’s recognize this and follow them as they follow Christ, praying for, supporting and encouraging them along the way.

And when they do fall short in some way, by God’s grace let’s focus on helping them move to a place of healing and  restoration and not fall into the enemy’s trap of destructive vilification.

Pastors are human too.

Selah!

WORK STRESS? – CHECK OUT THESE STRATEGIES!

WORK STRESS? – CHECK OUT THESE STRATEGIES!

"GOD I NEED HELP"

“I NEED HELP!”

If you are a Believer experiencing problems in your workplace,

"THIS IS TOO MUCH"

“THIS IS TOO MUCH!”

here are 21 Kingdom strategies to help you overcome your situation instead of allowing it to overcome you.

  1. Ask God for wisdom; seek His perspective on the situation – Ask what, not why?  What is happening? What are You saying? What should I do? Ask when? Ask how? Ask with whom? (James 1:5, 6)
  2. See if you are contributing to the problem – Ask God to search your heart (Psalms 139:23)
  3. Be Spirit led, not emotionally driven (Romans 8:14)
  4. Guard your mind; beware of carnal thinking – To be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 6:7,8)
  5. Do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly (Psalms 1:1) – If needed, seek counsel from a trustworthy, mature Believer (Proverbs 24:6).
  6. Pray always and in all ways (I Thessalonians 5:17; Philippians 4:6; James 5:16)
  7. Have a season mentality (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)
  8. Know that it came to pass (The phrase “it came to pass” is used 2202 in the Word)
  9. Keep a teachable spirit – there are valuable lessons that can be learned in your situation (Psalms 25:5; 27:11)
  10. Rely on God’s grace, not our own strength – Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God so that you will be able to stand against the strategies and tricks of the devil (Ephesians 6:10, 11)
  11. Hold fast to a Kingdom perspective (you are not just an employee but salt to preserve, light to show the way, an ambassador representing the Kingdom of God, a mighty warrior with the Lord on your side, not working or enduring for man but for the Lord, etc.)
  12. Cultivate an attitude of gratitude – Praise and be raised, complain and remain (I Thessalonians 5:18; I Corinthians 10:10)
  13. Watch your words – Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21), by our words we are justified and by our words we are condemned (Matthew 12:37)
  14. Focus on God’s Kingdom agenda more than on what you are experiencing personally (Matthew 6:33)
  15. Remember that work-related burdens are often character building tools in God’s hands – He often uses people and things in the work environment to mold us and break us so that the treasure in our earthen vessels can freely flow out. (II Corinthians 4:7)
  16. Wait on the Lord (patiently – Psalms 37:7; singlemindedly – Psalms 62:7; expectantly – Psalms 62:5, 6; Longingly Psalms 130:5, 6; quietly – Lamentations 3:26; joyfully – James 1:2)
  17. Shun worry (Matthew 6:34; Philippians 4:6)
  18. Trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5, 6; Isaiah 26:3)
  19. Hold on to your joy (Nehemiah 8:10; Philippians 4:4)
  20. Hold on to your peace (Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 4:6, 7)
  21. Remember that God loves you and no matter what is going on He desires your good in the end (Jeremiah 29:11; Romans 8:28, 35-39)

Be encouraged!
