THIS THANKSGIVING DAY

THIS THANKSGIVING DAY

THANKFUL

This Thanksgiving Day, I thank God for many, many things.

Just off the cuff, I thank Him for life, health, strength, peace, joy, my husband, children, mother, family, friends, the church, laughter, living in the Bahamas, the cross, His love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, provision, protection, Word, Spirit, Name and Blood ……..just to name a few.

But above all things, I thank God for being who He is to me, for our relationship, for drawing me unto Himself, for allowing me the privilege of being a part of His family through faith in Christ and because of this, having hope and a glorious future to look forward to in an ever darkening world.

Thank you Father!

Also, this Thanksgiving Day, just like last Thanksgiving Day I thank God for every mountain He’s brought me over and for every trial that He’s seen me through.

I thank Him for my experience of being sick because it was through sickness that I got to know Him as Jehovah Rapha, my healer.

I thank Him for encountering times of need because it was in those times that I got to know Him as Jehovah Jireh, my provider.

I thank Him for seasons of loneliness and unconnectedness because in this “empty place”, I got to know Him as Jehovah Shamma, the Lord who is present, the One who is always here.

I thank Him for the times when the enemy rose against me through persons, places and things because this is how I got to see Him fight on my behalf and know Him as Jehovah Saboath, the Lord of Hosts.

I thank Him for the people in my life who did me wrong and upon whom I sought no revenge because it allowed me to know Him as Jehovah Gmolah, the God of recompense, the One who repays.

I thank Him for encountering confusion, stress, turmoil and unrest because it was in those times that I got to know Him as Jehovah Shalom, my peace.

I thank Him for the situations where people in high places set out to disadvantage me in some way but He intervened in my favor showing who really rules and carries the clout thereby allowing me to know Him as El Elyon, the Most High God.

I thank Him for restraining me from going certain places I wanted to go and doing certain things I wanted to do because it enabled me to know Him as Jehovah Maccaddeshem, the Lord who sanctifies and sets apart.

I thank Him for the times I’ve failed Him and  fallen into sin, exposing my inadequacies and my inability to do right in my own strength, allowing me to know Him as Jehovah Tsidkenu, my righteousness.

I thank Him for the times when I was lost and needed direction and spiritual insight because it allowed me to look to Him and get to know Him as Jehovah Roe, my Shepherd.

I thank Him for the “close scrapes” in my life because it was through them that I got to know Him as Jehovah, Nissi, my banner covering me, keeping me and preserving my life.

Thank you Father!

Be blessed by this video of “Karen Wheaton Live – Exhortation I, the song “For Every Mountain” and Exhortation II.

“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!”

(Psalm 107:1 – Amplified Bible)

“Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].’

(I Thessalonians 5:18 – Amplified Bible)

THE SIN-SATIONAL POWER OF LUST

THE SIN-SATIONAL POWER OF LUST

LUST IS POWERFUL

 LUST IS POWERFUL

LUST – “Intense or unbridled sexual desire”

(Source – Merriam-Webster Online at www.Merriam-Webster.com)

Lust moved from his heart to his head,

Then he played with the thoughts in his mind,

Next he’s acted it out in somebody’s bed

To the plan of the enemy blind.

He flirted boldly with the flesh,

He dabbled knowingly in raw sin,

He tasted “sweet” forbidden waters,

And now the claws are in.

He got up and covered his tracks,

He built up an inner defense,

He told himself he’d never go back

Removed tell-tale evidence.

He said “self now you’ve got to be smart”,

He said “self now you’ve got to be slick”,

He said “self now you’ve got to lie from the start”

If anyone suspects you of this.

But what’s unseen is a sinister tie,

His soul with hers has become one,

From this fling he thought he’d easily fly

But it’s much harder to get undone.

She wields her power like a sword

And down he goes again,

She uses him like a toy when bored

No love, no care, no pain.

She blazes in and out his life

Like a fiery shooting comet,

His self-control lost at her beck and call

He returns like a dog to its vomit.

He thinks, what have I done,

I didn’t bargain for all of this,

My wife, my kids, my reputation

It’s all now at high risk.

In panic he begs her their “secret” to hide

She smiles and laughs silently with scorn,

Then calls up her friends in them to “confide”

Now the fire of gossip is born.

They’re shocked, stunned, amazed and surprised,

Not that upstanding Christian family man,

Snickering “don’t tell anyone” she advised

But they had another plan.

He keeps acting like all is cool,

He keeps playing the holy game,

He thinks those around him are obliviously fooled

That’s the sad and absurd shame.

For what he does not realize

From compromising with this wench,

Where once emanated fragrant holiness

From his life now comes putrid stench.

He once stood spiritually tall,

Now there is much inner distress,

And because of the terror of losing it all

He won’t come clean and confess.

His dark draining double life

Progressively takes its toll,

Just like a razor-sharp carving knife

It cuts away at his soul.

How will his story end,

Many watch from the sidelines to see,

God wants to heal and mend,

But will he seek help to get free.

Will he trust God and tell the truth?

Will he cast aside pride and live?

Will public exposure come from a sleuth?

Will he ask his wife to forgive?

One thing that’s certain for sure,

As he chooses to mill about,

God stands lovingly by to restore,

But time is running out.

His grace He now extends,

Like a soft gentle breeze it blows,

But once it lifts and ends,

Swift judgment He’ll impose.

This too common scene reminds us

To carefully guard our hearts,

Don’t be like a horse with no blinders

Stay focused, reign in lust at the start.

SELAH!

Kim

“For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.”

(Matthew 15:19 – NKJV)

“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”

(Proverbs 4:23 – NKJV)

“But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions). Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death.”

(James 1:14, 15 – Amplified Bible)

“Beloved, I implore you as aliens and strangers and exiles [in this world] to abstain from the sensual urges (the evil desires, the passions of the flesh, your lower nature) that wage war against the soul.”

(I Peter 2:11 – Amplified Bible)

“The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.

Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

(I Corinthians 7:3-5 – NLT)

“Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept undishonored); for God will judge and punish the unchaste [all guilty of sexual vice] and adulterous.”

(Hebrews 13:4 – Amplified Bible)

Drink water from your own well—
share your love only with your wife.
Why spill the water of your springs in the streets,
having sex with just anyone?
You should reserve it for yourselves.
Never share it with strangers.

Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you.
Rejoice in the wife of your youth.
She is a loving deer, a graceful doe.
Let her breasts satisfy you always.
May you always be captivated by her love.
Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman,
or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman?

For the Lord sees clearly what a man does,
examining every path he takes.
An evil man is held captive by his own sins;
they are ropes that catch and hold him.
He will die for lack of self-control;
he will be lost because of his great foolishness.

(Proverbs 5:18-23 – NLT)

For by means of a harlot
A man is reduced to a crust of bread;
And an adulteress will prey upon his precious life.
Can a man take fire to his bosom,
And his clothes not be burned?

(Proverbs 6:26-27 – NKJV)

Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding;
He who does so destroys his own soul.
Wounds and dishonor he will get,
And his reproach will not be wiped away.

(Proverbs 6:32-33 – NKJV)

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

(I John 1:9 – NKJV)

Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

 (James 5:16 – Amplified Bible)

CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT!

CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT!

CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT?

CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT!

Can you imagine purchasing a Samsung Galaxy S4, not referring to or reading the user manual at all yet expecting to effectively maximize its function and performance?

Can you imagine that!

Can you imagine purchasing an iPad Air then telling Apple, who made it, how it should work?

Can you imagine that!

Can you imagine owning a Ford Explorer, seeing the “service engine soon” light come on then calling Toyota, Kia and Honda to find out what the problem is?

Can you imagine that!

Would not doing any of these things be absurd…….I dare say even senseless?

 God is our creator.

We are His creation.

The Bible, His Word, is the User Manual for our lives.

Can you imagine believing that you can effectively maximize your life without consulting with God your Creator, without referring to or reading His User Manual for your life?

Can you imagine that!

Can you imagine you, the creation telling God, the Creator who made you how you should operate?

Can you imagine that!

Can you imagine having a problem and running everywhere else and to everyone else in search of a solution other than to God Who knows all things because He is your Creator, He is the Source from which you came?

Can you imagine that!

Would not doing any of these things be absurd…….I dare say even senseless?

Can you imagine that!

God is God.

God created you.

God knows you.

God is available to you.

Look to Him.

SELAH!

Father, help us to recognize who You are, recognize who we are and to look to You.

IMPORTANT LIFE LESSONS FROM AUNT LOTTIE

IMPORTANT LIFE LESSONS FROM AUNT LOTTIE

RECEIVING WISDOM FORM ANOTHER IS OFTEN THE KEY TO OUR FUTURE

RECEIVING GODLY WISDOM FROM AN OLDER PERSON IS OFTEN THE KEY TO OUR BREAKTHROUGH

I originally posted this in April of 2010 and decided to post it again today because this practical wisdom is so helpful in my life, and hopefully will be in yours too…….enjoy!

My grand-aunt, Aunt Lottie was a unique and special person who enriched the lives of many.

She was a loving, giving, straight-talking, humorous, industrious, personable, and caring person who loved the Lord and was always ready to serve.  I have many, many fond and cherished memories of Aunt Lottie, but the one thing that stands out about her was the practical wisdom that often came from her lips and that she demonstrated in her life.

A few important life lessons that I learned from her were:-

Never be afraid to give – you can never out give God.

Don’t take life too seriously – Laugh at circumstances, laugh at yourself.

Learn to make do with what you’ve got.

Don’t get caught up in other people’s success to the neglect of your own.

It doesn’t matter how you cook once the food tastes good.

Never be afraid to speak your mind.

Let children be children.

You don’t have to get married or have children to live a fulfilling life.

You control cleaning – do not let cleaning control you.

When married set limits on the amount of time you are out and go home to your husband.

Don’t get into a husband and wife’s business because when those two heads hit the pillow, that’s a different story.

Always be concerned about the spiritual state of others.

Make it a priority to regularly go to church, read your Bible and pray.

The most important thing in life is to personally accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

I truly thank God for ordaining a place in time where Aunt Lottie’s life connected with mine….. and now with yours.

Blessings!

Kim

CELEBRATING BAHAMIAN PRAISE (6) – “LORD I LOVE YOU”

CELEBRATING BAHAMIAN PRAISE (6) – “LORD I LOVE YOU”

"PRAISE THE LORD EVERYONE!"

“PRAISE THE LORD EVERYONE!”

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.”

(Psalms 150:6 – NIV, 1984)

God is a God of variety and has children all over the face of the earth from every race and culture and each of them have a unique way to sing praises to His Name.

As many of you know I am a Bahamian who resides in Nassau Bahamas and although Bahamian Christians/Believers sing praise songs birthed from the nations of the earth, we as a people also write praise songs and have a distinct way to praise the Lord.

Here’s a video of one of my favorite Bahamian praise songs that I found on YouTube and thought I’d share it; it certainly got my praise on!….smile.

Isaiah 42:10 declares, “Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them.” (Isaiah 42:10 – NIV, 1984)

As you listen to the song “LORD I LOVE YOU”, may a praise be raised in you.

Be blessed!

Kim

“Therefore in the east give glory to the Lord;
exalt the name of the Lord, the God of Israel,
in the islands of the sea.”

(Isaiah 24:15)

“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
    let the distant shores rejoice.”

(Psalms 97:1)

TRIED BY FIRE – COMING FORTH AS GOLD

AWIS Potter 1Potter and Clay

I received the following prophetic word by Elaine Tavolacci this morning via my subscription to her website, http://www.awordinseason.info.

I believe it is a timely and encouraging word for people going through fiery trials and as such am re-blogging it with her permission.

Tried By Fire – Coming forth as Gold

October 23rd, 2013

Elaine Tavolacci

There is a book in the bible about a man named Job. He was a blameless and upright man who had experienced a great loss in every area of his life. He went through a horrendous trial for nine months. The end of the story tells us that Job was rewarded with double of everything that he lost. Job said at the end of this trying time that he shall come forth as gold because he knew that he didn’t do anything to deserve this injustice. He also understood that Gods plan for his life could not be thwarted. When God gives you a promise, it will come to pass no matter what the circumstances look like in the natural.

The Lord says, I hear your cry and I hear every prayer. As you call out to Me in the fires of affliction, I will respond. Though the trials seem to multiply, I am with you through them all. Just as the refining of gold removes impurities, the things in your life that are unacceptable shall be removed.  Just as refining gold separates the pure from the less precious metals, I am removing the dross from your life. I am releasing you into royalty which comes forth from purity. Trust Me to strengthen you as you are refined in these tying times. Disregard the opinions of those who doubt My word. The opinions of others can not negate nor cancel out My plans. Just as Job, when you are tried you will come forth as gold. In the same way that gold is symbolic for a covenant in a wedding band, I am establishing My covenant with you. Do not focus on your past so that you will not be delayed from moving into your future. I will bring you through those difficult seasons and remove those things that are confining and restricting you from moving forward. Allow Me to free you from all doubts and fears which are imprisoning you. As you trust Me, you will be released from the restraints which are holding you in bondage. You will then be free from anything that is hindering you from receiving a life of abundance.

Shake off the despair and heaviness that tries to attach itself to you. Be careful not to go back to your old ways of living or allow the enemy to intimidate you by trying to steal your identity in Me.  The  enemy could not terminate anything that I have for you, as long as you do not yield to him. Learn how to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, rather than be critical of them. Bless them that curse you. Listen for My voice, so that you will no longer be misled by the voices of unbelief.  I Am the God of liberation, and as you refuse to submit to anything contrary to My word, I will deliver you from all the chaos in your life. You will be unchained from those things that are harming you. I am the supplier of all your needs. Trust me for your healing. Trust Me for your deliverance. Trust Me for your financial needs. Trust me in your marriage. See yourself healed and made whole. See yourself prosperous. See yourself strong and able to stand against any adversity that comes your way.  See yourself as more than a conqueror. See yourself as the blessing that I have created you to be. As you acknowledge the glorious future that I have for you, your life will be transformed and you will see My plans come to pass in your life and ministry says the Lord.”

Job 23: 10 – 12

But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot has held fast to His steps; I have kept His way and not turned aside. I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food.

Job 42:2

Job replied I know that you can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted.

Job 42:12 -17

Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch. In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers. After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations.  So Job died, old and full of days.

OTHERS MAY, YOU CANNOT

OTHERS MAY, YOU CANNOT

"JESUS LOVES YOU"

HOW MUCH OF YOURSELF ARE YOU WILLING TO DENY FOR THE CAUSE OF CHRIST?

About 10  years ago my Pastor sent me the following thought provoking writing by George D. Watson via email and I thought I’d share it with you today.

Be encouraged.

Be challenged.

Be blessed.

Kim

“If God has called you to be truly like Jesus in all your spirit, He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility. He will put on you such demands of obedience that you will not be allowed to follow other Christians. In many ways, He seems to let other good people do things which He will not let you do.

Others who seem to be very religious and useful may push themselves, pull wires, and scheme to carry out their plans, but you cannot. If you attempt it, you will meet with such failure and rebuke from the Lord as to make you sorely penitent.

Others can brag about themselves, their work, their successes, their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing. If you begin to do so, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all your good works.

Others will be allowed to succeed in making great sums of money, or having a legacy left to them, or in having luxuries, but God may supply you only on a day-to-day basis, because He wants you to have something far better than gold, a helpless dependence on Him and His unseen treasury.

The Lord may let others be honored and put forward while keeping you hidden in obscurity because He wants to produce some choice, fragrant fruit for His coming glory, which can only be produced in the shade.

God may let others be great, but keep you small. He will let others do a work for Him and get the credit, but He will make you work and toil without knowing how much you are doing. Then, to make your work still more precious, He will let others get the credit for the work which you have done; this to teach you the message of the Cross, humility, and something of the value of being cloaked with His nature.

The Holy Spirit will put a strict watch on you, and with a jealous love rebuke you for careless words and feelings, or for wasting your time, which other Christians never seem distressed over.

So make up your mind that God is an infinite Sovereign and has a right to do as He pleases with His own, and that He may not explain to you a thousand things which may puzzle your reason in His dealings with you.

God will take you at your word. If you absolutely sell yourself to be His slave, He will wrap you up in a jealous love and let other people say and do many things that you cannot. Settle it forever; you are to deal directly with the Holy Spirit, He is to have the privilege of tying your tongue or chaining your hand or closing your eyes in ways which others are not dealt with. However, know this great secret of the Kingdom: When you are so completely possessed with the Living God that you are, in your secret heart, pleased and delighted over this peculiar, personal, private, jealous guardianship and management of the Holy Spirit over your life, you will have found the vestibule of heaven, the high calling of God.

”

By G. D. Watson – (1854-1924)

“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

(Matthew 16:24-25)

Let’s Respect Marriage

I just visited my fellow blogger from Africa, Joseyphina’s site (www.joseypina.wordpress.com) and she had a great post entitled “Let’s Respect Marriage” that I am re-blogging with her invitation and permission.

Be enlightened, encouraged and edified as you read.

Blessings!

Kim

joseyphina's avatar Joseyphina's World

Oh the beginning of life together-marriage; all the ecstasy! Oh wait, is it really about the life together till death do them part or is it the all about the adrenaline rush because of the wedding-the flowers, the rings, the huge cake!

What happened between the moments when the couple’s eyes glistened with love as they recited their vows and before all people pledged to live as one and when they get so mad at each other that they decide to revoke their commitment? And most sadly, innocent kids get to pay the price for things going sour between the parents.

Marriage as a sacred institution ordained by God, to prove to the world that what God has really put together must by no means, be torn apart is also meant to bring forth offspring who will live in stable, safe and loving homes so they do not go astray.
