POWERFUL WORDS ON MODESTY – NOTEWORTHY QUOTE 6

"SELAH - PAUSE AND CALMLY THINK OF THAT"

“SELAH – PAUSE AND CALMLY THINK OF THAT”

Yesterday I was reading an article on the website charisma news.com called “When Christian Celebrities Dress Like Porn Stars” by Jennifer LeClaire (http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/watchman-on-the-wall/42131-when-christian-celebrities-dress-like-porn-stars) and upon scrolling down to check out a few of the comments posted on Discus, I came across one by Suzanne Sarnicki Albrecht (Suzanne Sarnicki-Albrecht) a part of which I feel is worth sharing.

Her comment entailed a quote that is reportedly from Hana Ali’s book, “More than a Hero: Muhammad Ali’s Life Lessons Through His Daughter’s Eyes” and it addresses what her father said to her when she and her younger sister, Laila, arrived at his home wearing clothing that was quite revealing.

“When we finally arrived, the chauffeur escorted my younger sister, Laila, and me up to my father’s suite. As usual, he was hiding behind the door waiting to scare us. We exchanged many hugs and kisses as we could possibly give in one day. My father took a good look at us. Then he sat me down on his lap and said something that I will never forget.

He looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Hana, everything that God made valuable in the world is covered and hard to get to. Where do you find diamonds? Deep down in the ground, covered and protected. Where do you find pearls? Deep down at the bottom of the ocean, covered up and protected in a beautiful shell. Where do you find gold? Way down in the mine, covered over with layers and layers of rock. You’ve got to work hard to get to them.”

He looked at me with serious eyes. “Your body is sacred. You’re far more precious than diamonds and pearls, and you should be covered too.”

SELAH!

I believe that these are powerful and beautiful words for all women to consider and to share with our daughters.

Be encouraged!

“For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

NOTEWORTHY QUOTE – 5

NOTEWORTHY QUOTE 5

"SELAH - PAUSE AND CALMLY THINK OF THAT"

“SELAH – PAUSE AND CALMLY THINK OF THAT”

The following noteworthy quote was extracted from a paper entitled “One Calling – Many Assignments” written by Michael McLoughlin, YWAM Marketplace Misson.

“Significance comes from “another” not from an accomplishment.  God considers us significant because He allowed his Son to die so that we might have life. Therein lies our true significance and the clue to meaning and purpose in our lives.  But to discover it, I had to die to “my” callings: business as a measure of success; missions as a measure of significance; ownership as a measure of identity; and meaning as the measure of my work; doing as a measure of my being; and calling as a measure of my worth.  The apostle Paul said, “To live is Christ, to die gain! To gain a true understanding of my life purpose, God’s (not mine) calling, I had to die to all my previous understandings.

Death is a doorway to freedom through which we must pass to live a life of purpose, significance and meaningfulness.  Death to ourselves sets us free to live for another.  God calls us to himself, but for us to truly answer that call we must die to everything that would substitute for God in our lives; our work; our gifts; our abilities; our plans; our visions; our missions; our dreams; even our calling.  God must be completely sufficient for our need for meaning; our need for significance; and our need to be loved.”

SOMEONE’S STANDING IN THE GAP FOR YOU

SOMEONE’S STANDING IN THE GAP FOR YOU

TAKE COMFORT, SOMEONE IS PRAYING FOR YOU

TAKE COMFORT, SOMEONE IS PRAYING FOR YOU

You are going through a difficult situation and you feel all alone.

People are all around you but not with you.

They are physically present, but not attuned to the frequency of your pain.

They see you smile.

They see you carry out your daily responsibilities as usual.

They think you are fine and you glibly play along with their perception.

But they have no idea what is going on inside of you.

They have no idea of the hurt, the pain, the anxiety, the fear, the disappointment, the threatening dark cloud of depression.

Because of their lack of perception as to your real state, you feel all alone.

You wonder if anyone cares.

You wonder if anyone remembers you in their prayers.

Today I say to you, take heart, don’t despair.

You may feel alone, but you are not alone.

God is with you for He said He will never leave you nor forsake you.

You may not sense His presence, but know that He is there.

Know also that even though you are not aware of who it is, there is someone standing in the gap for you.

There is someone crying out your name before the Lord.

On two occasions during a lengthy bout of illness, I had persons phone me to ask what was going on with me because the night before, or early that morning the Lord stirred them to go into intense warfare on my behalf because the enemy was trying to take me out.

Then after that bout of illness, once up and about again, I ran into various persons who asked me what was going on in my life during that time period because the Lord rested me strongly on their spirit and gave them a burden to pray for me so they did…..one of those persons was a young man who attended the same church as I did as a child and whom I had not seen in over 20 years!

These persons had no idea in the natural realm what I was going through, nevertheless, the Holy Spirit prompted them to pray for me so they did.

Why am I sharing this?

I am sharing it because I want you to know, and more importantly, God wants you to know that while you may feel alone, you are not alone.

He is there and there is someone standing in the gap for you.

“STANDING IN THE GAP” – BABBIE MASON

Again, today I say to you, take heart, don’t despair.

You may feel alone, but you are not alone.

God is with you for He said He will never leave you or forsake you.

You may not sense His presence, but know that He is there.

And know also that there is someone standing in the gap for you.

There is someone crying out your name before the Lord.

There is someone lifting you up in prayer.

If you still doubt that someone, somewhere is praying for you, take a step of faith and release your name into the atmosphere with a petition for intercession on your behalf.

Say your name out loud and ask God to let His intercessors pick it up in the spirit realm with a burden to pray for you and then thank Him in advance believing it is done.

“Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).”

(Ephesians 6:18 – Amplified Bible)

Be encouraged!

THE CENTRALITY OF LOVE

THE CENTRALITY OF LOVE

LORD FILL OUR HEARTS WITH YOUR LOVE

LORD FILL OUR HEARTS WITH YOUR LOVE

“If I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God’s love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

And if I have prophetic powers the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God’s love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody).

Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or in order that I may glory, but have not love (God’s love in me), I gain nothing.

Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly)and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful orresentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right andtruth prevail.

Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].

Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]…..”

POWERFUL HYMNS – PART 4 (MODERN VERSIONS)

POWERFUL HYMNS – PART 4 (MODERN VERSIONS)

ANCIENT HYMNS STILL MINISTER TO MY SPIRIT AND SOUL

MODERN VERSIONS OF ANCIENT HYMNS MINISTER TO MY SPIRIT AND SOUL

I believe that although written centuries ago, many hymns still minister powerfully to people today because they were birthed by the Spirit of God in the hearts of men and women who were in relationship with God; who did not just know of God, but who knew God in a personal way.

As a child and throughout most of my teen years I attended a Methodist Church where we sung hymns at every worship service.

Back then I really did not like hymns too much. To me they were songs that were far to long and that had far to many strange words that I did not fully understand; I preferred the choruses we sung in Sunday School and Junior Church.

But having lived long enough to experience some of the vicissitudes of life and grow in my faith in Christ, not only do I like hymns, but have a great appreciation and deep respect for them, especially now that I understand the meaning of their words and have received strength in my spirit, joy in my heart and peace in my mind many times as a result of listening to and singing them.

This morning I began thinking about some of the hymns that I sung in those services at the Methodist Church and thought I’d share some of my favorite ones in the next few posts.

Take a listen, and not only to the tunes, but more importantly listen to the words.

May your heart be warmed, your spirit strengthened and your soul blessed as you listen to modern versions of these powerful hymns.

Kim

“I STAND AMAZED IN THE PRESENCE” – CHARLES H. GABRIEL – 1905

“THERE IS A FOUNTAIN FILLED WITH BLOOD” – WILLIAM COWPER – 1772

“And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.”

(Matthew 26:30, Mark 14:26 – Amplified Bible)

“Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.”

(Colossians 3:16 – Amplified Bible)

“Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord,”
