NOTEWORTHY QUOTE 10

NOTEWORTHY QUOTE 10

"SELAH - PAUSE AND CALMLY THINK OF THAT"

“SELAH – PAUSE AND CALMLY THINK OF THAT”

From time-to-time I like to post quotes that I view as noteworthy.

The following is statements are quoted from David Ravenhill found on page 98 of Chapter 8 of his book, “They Drank From The River And Died In The Wilderness”

“Growing up with entertainment has made us very entertainment-oriented. This desire to be entertained has influenced our concept and understanding of worship. For many Christians, “worship” is more a program or performance to watch than it is a divine encounter in which they can personally participate. If the service makes them feel good, if the music sends a thrill up their spine, or if the preaching stirs their emotions, then they feel that certainly they must have worshipped, even if they had no conscious awareness of the presence of God.”

“We must be careful to always keep the focus of our worship squarely on God Himself. It  is too easy for us to fall into the trap of worshipping our own worship. It is too easy to lift up human talent, ability or understanding to the point that we take away from the God the honor that is due His name. Everything we do in worship should go to the cross of Christ. Much of our worship ignores the cross because we actually are lifting up man.”

“We need to examine our motives and our desires. Why are we worshipping? Is it because we want to bring glory to God and grow in intimate fellowship with Him? Or is it because we want to be entertained and made to feel good? We need to regularly ask, “Lord, is this taking away from your glory?”

SEASONS CHANGE

SEASONS CHANGE

WHAT SEASON ARE YOU IN?

WHAT SEASON ARE YOU IN?

“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven”

(Ecclesiastes 3:1 – KJV)

According to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew meaning of the word “season” in this verse is “an appointed occasion”.

This means that the verse can read, “To everything there is an appointed occasion, and a time for every purpose under the heaven.”

There are many different seasons that we may encounter in a lifetime.

Seasons of war and seasons of peace.

Seasons of delay and seasons of acceleration.

Seasons of separation and seasons of connection.

Seasons of being exposed and seasons of being hidden.

Seasons of sowing and seasons of reaping.

Seasons of barrenness and seasons of fruitfulness.

Seasons of pressing on and seasons of holding back

Seasons of ease and seasons of effort.

Seasons of birth and seasons of death

Sometimes in His divine wisdom, God ordains seasons for our lives that we find, uncomfortable, unfavorable, inconvenient, painful, or experience in some other negative way.

When you find your self in such a season, how do you respond?

Do you:

a) Murmur, grumble, complain, get angry and bitter with God, argue with Him, try to escape into another season, or try to re-define your season according to your own desires?

or

b) Humbly and graciously accept your season as being from the sovereign hand of your all-knowing, all-wise, all-powerful and loving Father and ask Him to grant you all that you need to pass through the season in a way that is pleasing to Him and that accomplishes all that He desires to do in and through you at the given point in time?

or

c) Begin at a) and as time proceeds, melt into b).

Sometimes in life we may find ourselves tossed into nerve-wracking, painful, faith-battling, wearisome seasons that seem impossible to bear.

When this happens, one way that we can avoid a lot of unnecessary stress and possible discipline from our Father is to yield to the season He allows in our lives, knowing that He loves us, He has a plan, and is working things out for good even if we can not perceive it.

Instead of responding with anger, rebellion or in some other non-productive, or negative way, when we encounter difficult seasons, it is best to respond with humility and ask God to help us to accept these seasons and grant us the needed wisdom, grace and fortitude to work through them and come out better and not bitter on the other side.

Three (3) keys I’ve come to find very helpful in dealing with God ordained seasons in my life are:

  1. To flow and not to fight…..it is hard, wearisome and fruitless to kick against the pricks!
  2. Be content and not restless…..acceptance, not settling, but acceptance brings peace and an increased ability to hear what the Lord is requiring so I can successfully navigate through.
  3. Be grateful and not grumble…..no matter what is going on, there are always a lot of things to give God thanks for, starting with belonging to His family, having the privilege of calling Him Father, and having my name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life…..praise and be raised…..complain and remain!

If you find yourself in a difficult season today, remember that God will never put more on you than you can bear and the that the season will not last forever…..it too came to pass……seasons change.

Be blessed and encouraged by this song by Crystal Lewis, “Seasons Change”.

DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE IN A LION’S DEN?

GOD STILL SHUTS LIONS' MOUTHS

GOD STILL SHUTS LIONS’ MOUTHS

I received the following prophetic word by Elaine Tavolacci this morning via my subscription to her website, http://www.awordinseason.info.

I believe that it will encourage those of you who because of a situation, feel like you’re in a lion’s den so I am re-blogging it with her permission.

ANGELIC VISITATIONS IN THE LIONS DEN

By Elaine Tavolacci

Every one of us are familiar with the story about Daniel in the Lions den. It is not a fictitious story as some may think, but it is an actual encounter that Daniel experienced. As I read this scripture, the Holy Spirit began to show me several things. King Darias appointed 120 satraps (princes) to rule throughout the kingdom with three administrators which one was Daniel. The king wanted to appoint Daniel to rule over the whole kingdom because of his exceptional qualities. The satraps were envious and tried to find grounds for charges against him but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; and there was no error or fault found in him. All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisers wanted to take Daniels life just to remove him from his position.

The Lord is showing me that many of you have people who are speaking against you, and trying to remove you from your position. They are trying to stop you from what you were called to do. They don’t realize that they are coming against Gods plan, but they are determined to plot against you. There is a fight for promotion, but as you remain humble and steadfast, the Lord will continue to raise you up to where you belong. Every plan of the enemy will be rendered null and void as you remain faithful and loyal to Jesus and His word. The enemies plans will not prevail in your life.

The story goes on to say that they convinced King Darius to sign a law saying that for the next thirty days anyone who prayed except for the king would be thrown into the lion’s den. The king was honored and didn’t recognize that it was a plot against Daniel, so he made the law and signed it. Daniel who always prayed three times a day continued to pray even though he knew about this law.

Daniel was then thrown into the lion’s den. The king said to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.” Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his lords, so that this law could not be reversed. King Darias couldn’t sleep that night because he was so grieved in his conscience. The next morning he went to the lion’s den and called out to Daniel saying: “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Daniel replied to the king, “O king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.” Daniel was not angry or bitter towards the king because He knew Gods promises and will for his life.

Then at the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones. King Darias then issued a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. He said: “For He is the living God and He endures forever; His kingdom will not be destroyed, His dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.” So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

As I read these scriptures the Holy Spirit gave me a revelation of this similitude. Just as a stone was placed over Jesus tomb and God sent an angel to remove the stone, a stone was also placed over the lion’s den and the Lord sent an angel to shut the mouth of the lions. You may be facing situations that seem impossible to get out of in the natural, but The Lord will also send an angel to shut the mouths of the lions and you will come out unharmed.

Those who are rising against you will also be grieved in their conscience as they see what the Lord is doing in your life as well as His incredible provisions, and miraculous interventions. Just as the stone was removed and Daniel was set free, He will also set you free from this den of affliction. Jesus is the Lion of Judah and He is releasing you from any pit that the enemy might be trying to hold you in. As you put your trust in Jesus, you will also experience magnificent encounters in your life.

Daniel 6:17
“Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his lords, that the purpose concerning Daniel might not be changed.”

Daniel 6:25
“Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth: “May you prosper greatly”. I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel.”For he is the living God and he endures forever; His kingdom will not be destroyed, His dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.”

Matthew 27:65-66
“Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.”

A VERY UNPOPULAR TRUTH

A VERY UNPOPULAR TRUTH

THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT A BUFFET - SELAH

THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT A BUFFET – SELAH

The Cost of Discipleship

(Mark 8:34-38 – KJV)

34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

The Cost of Discipleship

(Mark 8:34-38 – Amplified Bible)

“34 Jesus called the crowd together with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].

35 For whoever wishes to save his life [in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], but whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake and the gospel’s will save it [from the consequences of sin and separation from God].

36 For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world [with all its pleasures], and forfeit his soul?

37 For what will a man give in exchange for his soul and eternal life [in God’s kingdom]?

38 For whoever is ashamed [here and now] of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

(Mark 8:34-38 – Amplified Bible)

ALL WOUND UP

By Elaine Tavolacci

The Holy Spirit brought me back to a prophetic word that I shared some time ago. He showed me a picture of a multitude of people with wind up keys on their backs walking around like wind up dolls. Each person was walking in a different direction. Some people were walking to and fro wandering aimlessly without hope and some were being swayed in the wrong direction. Some were lagging behind while others appeared to be in a trance of fear. There were some walking in a circular motion not realizing that they weren’t going anywhere, just like a hamster running around on a wheel. Many were distraught as they were going through fiery trials.

But then I saw those who were marching with determination knowing exactly what their destination was as they were trusting Jesus. They marched on with courage and confidence. They had fire in their eyes, and the Word of God as a sword in their mouths. They stood upright, they were bold and radical in their faith, and they were steadfast in what they believed. They seemed to have a protective shield around them as every fiery dart that came against them was extinguished. They were not swayed by adverse circumstances or evil reports, but they stood on the word of God.

I asked The Lord what this meant and this is what He showed me. Every person in the universe is walking around wound up in different situations. Some people are wound up in worries, some are wound up in confusion, some are caught up in the love of money and many are wound up in fear. But then there is the remnant who are stirred up in faith, stirred up in joy, and they continue to stir themselves up spiritually by praying in the Spirit.

The Lord says, allow Me to unwind you from the pressures that so easily beset you. Do not fear this dilemma that seems to be too large for you to handle in the natural, and allow Me to release you from the tormenting anxiety and confusion in your mind. Trust in Me to provide all your needs in every area. Allow Me to remove the burdens from your heart as you are entangled in complicated situations. Those of you who are fatigued from the cares and the weights of the world, come and rest in Me and I will restore your energy and revive you physically. Take your eyes off the circumstances around you and allow Me to direct your path. Trust in Me when all else fails. Don’t allow worry or fear to overtake you. I will release you from this distress as you position yourself and come into the secret place of My presence. Be bold and be strong, as you follow My leading. Allow Me to stir up and resurrect those dreams that have faded away through discouragement.

As you put your trust in Me, you will gain the tenacity to become steadfast once again and pursue the plans that you have been contending for. You will then have the endurance to run the race with determination and strength. Keep your focus on My Word rather than the way that your situations appear in the natural. Everything in the natural is subject to change. I am the God of restoration and nothing is impossible with Me. As you stay steadfast in these trying times, you will come forth as gold. I Am your deliverer, I Am the God of your destiny and I Am with you in the fire of affliction. Although it may look like the waves of adversity are pulling you in a vortex, fear not. Rejoice and know that this too will come to pass and know that I will bring you in to My plans and purposes for your life. As you trust Me, that very thing that is coming against you will be your greatest testimony. Stir yourself up once again, and I will bring you out stronger as you endure and put your faith in Me says the Lord.

1 Samuel 30:6
Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

1 Peter 4:12 -13
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

Jude 1:20 -21
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life

IN WHO OR WHAT WILL YOU TRUST?

IN WHO OR WHAT WILL YOU TRUST?

IN WHO OR WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO TRUST?

IN WHO OR WHAT WILL YOU TRUST?

As governments, institutions, systems and leadership in every sector of this world continue to shake, be re-defined, fail, crash and crumble, there is a critical question that needs to be asked as time winds down:

IN WHO OR WHAT WILL YOU TRUST?

The Word of God has much to say in this regard.

Here are a few scriptures to meditate on before answering.

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in man.”

(Psalm 118:8 – Amplified Bible)

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in princes.”

(Psalm 118:9 – Amplified Bible)

“Do not trust in princes,
In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation (help).”

(Psalms 146:3 – Amplified Bible)

“He who trusts confidently in his own heart is a [dull, thickheaded] fool,
But he who walks in [skillful and godly] wisdom will be rescued.”

(Proverbs 28:26 – Amplified Bible)

“Stop regarding man, whose breath [of life] is in his nostrils [for so little time];
For why should he be esteemed?”

(Isaiah 2:22 – Amplified Bible)

“Woe (judgment is coming) to those who go down to Egypt for help,
Who rely on horses
And trust in chariots because they are many,
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek and consult the Lord!”

(Isaiah 31:1 – Amplified Bible)

“Thus says the Lord,
“Cursed is the man who trusts in and relies on mankind,
Making [weak, faulty human] flesh his strength,
And whose mind and heart turn away from the Lord.”

(Jeremiah 17:5 – Amplified Bible)

“Do not trust in a neighbor [because of the moral corruption in the land];
Do not have confidence in a friend.
Guard the doors of your mouth
From her who lies in your bosom.

For the son dishonors the father and treats him contemptuously,
The daughter rises up [in hostility] against her mother,
The daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
A man’s enemies are the men (members) of his own household.”

(Micah 7:5,6 – Amplified Bible)

“Those who trust in and rely on the Lord [with confident expectation]
Are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but remains forever.”

(Psalm 125:1 – Amplified Bible)

“The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in and puts his confidence in the Lord will be exalted and safe.”

(Proverbs 29:25 – Amplified Bible)

“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character],
Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].”

(Isaiah 26:3 – Amplified Bible)

“Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner],
For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].”

(Isaiah 26:4 – Amplified Bible)

“Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord
And whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord.”

(Jeremiah 17:7 – Amplified Bible)

As governments, institutions, systems and leadership in every sector of this world continue to shake, be re-defined, fail, crash and crumble:

IN WHO OR WHAT WILL YOU TRUST?

SELAH!

Time is of essence.

Don’t hesitate, and don’t procrastinate, answer the question today.

Shalom,

Kim

“GREAT I AM” – LARUE HOWARD

“Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

(Exodus 3:13, 14 – NKJV)

Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.”

(Leviticus 19:2 – NKJV)

The mountains quake before Him,
The hills melt,
And the earth heaves at His presence,
Yes, the world and all who dwell in it.

(Nahum 1:5 – NKJV)

“I am the Lord, and there is no other;
There is no God besides Me.
I will gird you, though you have not known Me,
That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting
That there is none besides Me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other;”

(Isaiah 45:5-6 – NKJV)

“Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
Nor are there any works like Your works.”

(Psalms 86:8 – NKJV)

“For the Lord of hosts has purposed,
And who will annul it?
His hand is stretched out,
And who will turn it back?”

(Isaiah 14:27 – NKJV)

“….and said: “O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?”

(2 Chronicles 20:6 – NKJV)

Whatever your situation today, humble yourself and run to, seek the face of, trust in, rely on and obey the Great I AM….He is well able to bring you through!

THE SON IS BEYOND YOUR CLOUDS – AGAIN

THE SON IS BEYOND YOUR CLOUDS – AGAIN

When I looked outside at the clouds this morning, my mind ran on a post that I wrote in March of  2013 called “The Son Is Beyond Your Clouds” and thought it would be fitting to reblog it this morning.

Be encouraged and be blessed.

THE SON IS BEYOND YOUR CLOUDS

DOES YOUR LIFE HAVE CLOUDY GREY SKIES?

DOES YOUR LIFE HAVE CLOUDY GREY SKIES?

This morning when I woke up and looked outside I was greeted by drizzling rain and a blanket of grey clouds instead of golden sunshine and clear blue skies.

Apart from the daylight, there was absolutely no sign that the sun even existed; not a clue.

However, just because I could not see the sun did not mean that it was not there…….Selah!

If I really wanted to confirm that fact, all I had to do was board an airplane and take a flight.

After take off, with incredible thrust the airplane would pierce through the clouds and in moments, the same golden sunshine and clear blue skies that I could not see while on the ground would be visible.

How is the weather in your life?

Are you experiencing cloudy grey skies?…….cloudy grey skies of unpaid bills, mounting debt, unemployment, a failed business, sickness, marital problems, wayward kids, job stress, apathy, depression or suicidal thoughts?

Is the sky of your life overcast with so many problems, issues and challenges that you can’t see the Son?

Are you in a state where other than the written Word, from your view, there is absolutely no sign that the Son exists; not a clue?

Well, take heart, because just how the sun is still there on a rainy, cloudy day even though you can’t see it, the Son is still there in the midst of your rainy, cloudy circumstances even though you can’t see Him…..Selah!

If you believe this, position yourself on the runway of prayer and ask the Holy Spirit to propel you through the clouds of your circumstances until by faith you see the Son, because remember, He is there.

Note that once an airplane penetrates the clouds and enters the realm of golden sunshine and clear blue skies, it does not stop ascending, but continues to do so until it reaches the cruising altitude.

As you ascend in prayer, after penetrating the clouds of your circumstances and entering the presence of the Son don’t stop there, continue to ascend until you reach your “cruising altitude”.

What is your “cruising altitude”?

It is that high place of faith where you truly grasp the fact that God is bigger than your circumstances, and know in the depths of your spirit that no matter what happens, the victory is yours in Christ Jesus and you rest in this truth.

Ascending to “cruising altitude” and remaining there is important because this will enable you to fly above the clouds of your circumstances and experience minimal turbulence in your spirit until the weather in your life changes.

Be aware that just how an airplane needs to keep fighting gravity and exerting power to remain at its cruising altitude above the clouds, you will have to keep fighting doubt and exerting faith to remain at your “cruising altitude” above the clouds of your circumstances.

The good news though is that unlike an airplane that runs on fuel that can run out and cause it to stop flying, you have the power of the Holy Spirit available to help you fly above your circumstances and His fuel tank is inexhaustible….praise the Lord!

Be encouraged by the lyrics of Yolanda Adam’s “Yet Still I Rise”.

And one last thing, remember that according to Ecclesiastes 3:1, to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens so be encouraged in that God will change the weather forecast in your life at the appointed time; the grey clouds and rain won’t last forever.

Blessings!
