Day of Caring

Day of Caring is Wyoming Valley’s largest engagement day of the year when hundreds of representatives of business, industry, education, and healthcare join other private citizens to come together as volunteers, roll up their sleeves, and set to work helping nonprofit and charitable organizations throughout the Wyoming Valley with projects their limited budgets just can’t cover.

May 23rd, 2024 marked United Way’s 31st Day of Caring Celebration which resulted over $100,000 in value to the Wyoming Valley!

Children's Book Drive

BOOKS BUILD BIG DREAMS!

Through this drive, we promote and improve grade level reading and early school success. Gently used and new books collected are distributed to early learning centers and schools across the Wyoming Valley and one local elementary school is treated to a free ‘Tag-In’ Book Fair.

Volunteer opportunities are available during the month of April to help with the book sort.

Help Kids Thrive Drive

LOST SCHOOL TIME = LOST LEARNING TIME

This annual drive helps at-risk children meet their basic hygiene and school supply needs. It is very difficult for students to focus on their class work and remain in school when they are dealing with a host of insecurities. Items collected support the United Way’s Nurse’s Pantry program. The Nurse’s Pantry is an in-school resource that provides health, hygiene, and school supplies at no cost to children in need. The program is in 34 buildings in ten school districts throughout the Wyoming Valley.

Volunteer opportunities are available during the month of August to help with the sort.
