I have Windows 8.1 with Nitro program to work with PDF files rather than Adobe. Will it work with that or do I need to have Adobe Reader installed?

According to official information, the program doesn't need specifically Adobe Reader. It has the ability to work with any program that can read\edit PDF files. However, the developers of the application have recently released an update in which they fixed some bugs regarding the compatibility with the Adobe software. You can test the Nitro program for yourself and see how it behaves. If you encounter any errors, contact the developer using official website, or install Adobe Reader.
