- Stop the X11 server and terminate all the Cygwin processes making sure none of them remain active in the background.
- Delete the Cygwin folder and subfolders.
- Delete the Cygwin shortcuts on the desktop and start menu
- Remove the registry entry Software\Cygwin under the Registry in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER
