Hey guys! I've sort of become addicted to Tumblr, you can follow me here and see more of what I'm doing- It's just so much easier to upload pictures and stuff than LJ, even though I love LJ and still haunt all the coms and read way too much fanfiction.

After a LOT of hard work and messing up I have finally, just now, made some successful t-shirts! I am so excited you don't even know, for serious. They are Sherlock shirts, and the design is a culmination of not only all my gouache paintings and the visual language that I cultivated through them, but also some new stuff as well as a few things from the Fandom, like the kitty jumper cat and a jar of jam, because I love those memes. Anyway I just had a lot of fun with it and tried to make a fun and splashy design for a shirt, and here it is!

Alright! Short and sweet because I have so much to do today, even though I'd really rather sit around and mess with Tumblr. Now that I know how it works (kind of) I CANNOT STOP LOOKING, IT IS SO AWESOME YOU GUYS!

Anyway- I MOVED! YAAAAY! I am currently in Pullman, Washington in an adorable house trying my damndest to set everything up and not spend too much money on shelves. It's been great so far, Megan and I get along very well. I miss Brenna terribly but I'll be going back for Thanksgiving and Christmas and all of that. I'm working very hard to get everything set up in a reasonable fashion but it is a lot of work, I have a ridiculous amount of art supplies and with Megan in school for half the day getting everything in order can be tricky. Most of the things that need moving I cannot move safely myself, so, it's a bit slow going- but we will get there!

Another thing that I'm working on is learning how to screenprint properly! I've been wanting to make some t-shirts for forever, and I also have been wanting to learn how to screen print, so I got some supplies during an awesome 20% off School Sale at dickblick and I have yet to open the boxes, haaaah! I've got a sherlock design done and then one that's non-fandom related, but I wanted to ask- Would you guys like t-shirts? What sort of t-shirts do you want? Any funny ideas for t-shirts? Tell them to me, and if I like them enough I just might manage to make it. I know I want to make some Sherlock swag and Dr. Who swag, because I hate most of the t-shirts in stores these days and I never shop in the girls section, because their shirts are plain and boring, so I want to make -me- some awesome t-shirts to wear about town.

OH, AND MIMISHKA INVITED ME TO NORWESCON! As a person who does panels, so, yay! It's very nice to be invited at all, I'm not sure what exactly I'd talk about but she gave me a list of panels and I'd likely do something business related. It's in Seattle and you can learn more about it at norwescon.org - I also will be doing artists alley there, for sure, even if I don't man up for some panels. I've never even BEEN to a panel before so it's a bit daunting.

Okay that was neither short nor sweet so, be off with you! Give me your awesome Dr. Who and Sherlock jokes / quotes / ideas so that I might make them into glorious fandom t-shirts- if I use your idea I'll definitely give you a free one!

Soooo... I heard back Friday, and I didn't get the job. But, I think that's okay because even though it would have been really exciting and different, I already had plans to go to Washington anyway. So, I am currently planning on moving some time between the 13th and 16th- I have to ship my car a few days ahead and fly down and then drive the rest of the way. So I'll be in Bellingham Washington on the 15th and driving to Pullman- if anyone's around and wants to have coffee or dinner or something hit me up!

I am currently loving Tumblr, I love seeing all the Sherlocky and Dr. Who status updates of the people I'm following, and there's so much awesome fandom art and totally cracky, insane things, I just love it! I've been posting my Dr. Who ABC book pages over there pretty regularly as I finish them up, so if you want to see them go follow me on Tumbler.

A quick update because my sister is glaring daggers at me to go take this video back and get coffee, and who can resist coffee? (and glares)

I've put up a new listing on my Etsy store where you can buy any 3 paintings for $35- since they're normally $18 each this is a good discount for people who are interested in buying more than one print in the series. I even made this cute little picture to go with the listing! You can find the listing here if you're interested - Thanks guys! (Oh, still no word back on the Job, so keep your internet fingers continually crossed for me.)

I got a Tumlr for real this time! I think when I announced it last time I had actually signed up for buzzfeed xD I sound like such a grandma! Anyway, I have no idea what I'm doing, the tumblr is unicornempire.tumblr.com - I'm figuring it out. BUT there are TONS of awesome people who are also here and there and everywhere and I have spent all morning going 'HEY IT'S THAT PERSON FROM OVER THERE THAT I RECOGNIZE THEIR AWESOME ART! OMG!' - I'm lookin' at you tea-time-cake-wibbly-wobbly-person- Anyway,  I have been resisting the urge to post about this other thing because I don't want to jinx it, buuuuut...

For a lack of anything else to write about really I will say that my move to Pullman is on hold for the possibility of getting a job in Minneapolis as a graphic designer for Fantasy Flight Games. I had my phone interview last week and I thought it went pretty well. I did that thing where you realize hours later that you totally should have used that moment to say something good about yourself, or how you should have answered- I mean, the guy asked me "What are the top 3 things you look for in an employer?" and I was like "... um... uh... nice people? and... um... art making? being able to do something where I make art sometimes? that's nice..." - Seriously, it was so stupid. BUT, I can still hope. I'm like 95% sure that I won't get the job because there are a lot of people in Minneapolis (I should know, I went to college there) (I also actually want the job and we all know how that works out!) who are graphic designers, blahdiddyblah, but it's nice to at least have gotten an interview.

So yeah, all's quiet on the western front, I should hear back from them some time this week. In the mean time I'm still working at Taku and just filling orders and the like. Keep your internet fingers crossed for me!

Alright, so these are my Time Lapse videos of painting Hold My Heart with Gouache. The first song is Christina Perri with 'Arms', which is the song used for the inspiration in the painting. The video should explain it all, if I got the sound to work right. Thanks for watching!

Hey everyone! I have been trying to upload this painting for a few days, but my Grandmother is visiting Juneau and we've all been so busy- at any rate, I'm really happy with this painting, I think it came out really good. I'm also excited that I FILMED the whole process of painting it! Now, some scenes are a bit missing because the camera turned off or the battery ran out, BUT, I'm trying to upload a 2 part video of me painting. It's about 14 minutes total and shows the process of me painting over the course of a few days, so it's sped up incredibly fast, so it's not a tutorial by any means (though if anyone wanted I'd be happy to make one). Anyway~

I hope that's not too large for anyone's flist. Let me know if it is and I'll put it behind a cut. It is available here on my Etsy site-  and I am also interested in selling the original, along with a few other original gouache paintings.

Anyway, because this particular painting doesn't technically have any new symbolism, I'm not going to do the usual competition because I think it would be a bit mean to have people rehash their already very considerate comments. I will however be happy to give anyone a free shipping coupon code if they ask for it on LJ here and leave their e-mail for the mailing list (if you're already on it, I'll be sending the same coupon code out to you in the next few minutes, so don't worry) The videos will be posted in the next day or two, once I can dropkick the monster that is iMovie into submission (seriously, worst program upgrade ever). Thanks for looking guys!

Well, I went to Pullman for a week. I helped my friend Megan move some stuff in to the new house and it's pretty certain that I'll be moving there, barring some freak incident. The general idea is that I'll be leaving after my grandmother's visit to Juneau is over (I'm back in Juneau now, got back yesterday evening) and I'll have to ferry my car from Juneau to Bellingham and meet it there (or take the ferry, kill me with a spoon) and drive it to Pullman. It's all very exciting but after a full day of traveling I'm just exhausted and can't muster much energy right now. Yipee, woohoo, snore!

I have plans for a nursery series for Dr. Who involving a starwhale and some other things, and I know the style I want for it, so these are some (kind of failed) pieces. The color on these scans are awful, I tried to fix them in photoshop but it's really just atrocious and... Yeah, that's all I've got to say. So, greens greener, reds less solid, you get the idea. I can. Not. Wait. For the new season.

Here's the final, I'm so excited about it I can't even tell you! It's a...

Clock!

It has a wall hangar on the back and beautiful golden clock hands. The body has been cut with a laser cutter, and is made out of wood. It's 1/4th of an inch thick and very intricate, as you can see. It's been painted a nice Tardis Blue with some antiquing techniques because, hey we all know the Tardis is something Old- with a metallic gold backing cut to fit the body of the Tardis. In full it's about 11" tall from top to bottom.

I'm very happy with how it came out and I can't wait to put it in the new house in Pullman. If anyone would like to buy one I'd be happy to take preorder requests here on LJ and I'll keep a list for when I'm able to make more. I had materials to make 2, so if anyone would like to purchase one I think I'm going to sell them for $28, with about $5 for shipping. I have a few other surprises with this design but I haven't had a chance to take pictures of them yet. Thanks for looking guys!

I got this fortune cookie today that said "You would do well to develop a new direction or hobby."

I'm taking this as a blessing for the thing that I decided to do just yesterday, which is in fact something I'm not going to tell you what it is. I will however leave my first project design here, and if anyone is keen on it they can take a guess! Back to work, though = )
