livesonlipgloss[Follows THIS]Rachel pushed into the coffee shop near Fifth Avenue, and sighed. This was about the third day that week she'd hit it, working on making it her regular spot in the hopes that eventually it might pay off as a pick up place. The first couple coffee shops she'd tried had had terrible coffee, even if the eye candy factor had been high. She just couldn't stomach the idea of drinking bad coffee and trying to flirt at the same time.
Then there was the fact that Mike was shipping out again soon, and she didn't know how she felt about it. She was sad, and she maybe regretted the fact they hadn't quite connected, but at least they'd maintained some kind of balance in their friendship. They could talk now, and she was even succeeding in not hitting on him every other sentence. Maybe because she really was accepting the fact that it was time to move on. Mike was a great man, and he had been her first accidental love, but it just wasn't meant to be.
She stepped up to the end of the queue, and settled on waiting. The only bad part about her potential new spot was that the queues were always so long. What happened to coffee shops that were quiet, but made great coffee? Not like there wasn't enough of them in New York. "And yet all of them still seem to get massive line ups," she muttered out loud. Rachel rocked back on her heels, and had actually been about to turn around and walk back out when she realised too late that someone was behind her and she bumped against him and let out a surprised yelp. She spun to look behind her to see if they were okay, but her blue eyes lit up when she saw the tall, tan, not so dark cutie. "I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come up behind me. Are you okay?"
( Alex had tried to shift back when he saw her backing up and when she spoke to him, his brain seemed to want to initially wonder why chicks didn't come with orange flashing lights and a beeping thing like trucks did...Collapse )Word Count | 3,461
