May not even be a year here. Or even a couple months. If something pops up even like this month and it's doable hello Japan or other cool place. Especially since I have no wife or kids to drag me down, apparently. Direct support is best bet followed by being fully attached to ship. Fuck yes. |

Sonic 4? Yay. For now. Watchmen 2 to be? Fuck you DC. Super Street Fighter 4? Hooyah, especially with Final Fight characters in it. Pokemon HG/SS? Hells yeah. Pokemon Gen V if it appears? Double hells yeah. ------ So three years maybe homeported and doing ship duty, OR maybe ship duty/shore duty in an entirely different country. We'll see. It's apparently two years shore duty in America, and three years potentially being away from it (via outta country, ship, or both) as a general rotation. Thankfully I'll be E-4 by then and probably ready to leave Hellhole, Georgia as well (although it IS ironic I'm finally getting out more in time to be forced to leave everyone). I'd be missing you guys during those long nights at sea, though. Not being funny there. I would. Even, if you know, occasional internet and writing letters. Daniel wants me to go to Japan, as did my LPO in suggestions. People are also saying San Diego. Personally, maybe I ought hit England and see if my accent blends in, aye, guv'nah? But that's a year away and I have a month to wait before even getting any details of it, or if I can even have a say in choosing what happens to me. ------ I seriously need a new phone after Stark just kinda looked at mine in awe. Maybe an iphone or whatever, even if he said that'd be upgrading times a bajillion from my old tracphone, so. |

THREE DAYS AGO: Technically the worst day of 'em all. Drive over was wet, but relaxing-most of my longer car trips can be when they don't go on TOO long-and it was rainy. Take note of this for the rest of the night, as it was also cold. I eventually get to town and so far so good...made the trip in two and a half hours...and find a motel that is in the middle of downtown, near all the touristy bits. Rather cheap for a downtown motel, though I've been told that it's in an 'intense' (ha) part of town and apparently my usual luck has kept me safe. Ah well. Not much else to say other than it snowed for a couple seconds, but snowed nonetheless and gave me serious doubts on whether this is a good idea or not. Drove around the city trying to find something to eat, only to give up after an hour and went to a karaoke bar instead. Decent cajun chicken fajita. Hung out online plotting for the next day and went to sleep. TWO DAYS AGO: Lessee. First part is heading to the Underground in the morning after being hit up by a beggar. Had at the 'American Deli' one of the best philly cheesesteaks I have had in my entire life. Wandered around it for a bit. Nothing too exciting, but it's unique enough for a couple seconds' look. Mostly the highlight is the World of Coca-Cola Museum. Sarah's right-cheesy enough it's good as a school trip and nothing else, but hell, I had fun and a rather large amount of people IMing me on it that night. I did get in for free, which was a pleasant surprise-I had originally chosen that over the Aquarium due to it being cheaper, but hey. Freebie's a freebie. Fabulously gay and upbeat tour guide named Amilio. Lots of Indian tourists. Actually, a lot of the tour group was international. That 'Happiness Factory' movie they make one watch is fucking surreal and nightmare fuel. Past that it gets better-the exhibits are amusing enough, it's lulzy watching the New Coke bit, and the tour people were, in a word, hot. I also got to try for the first time in a while delicious, delicious Vanilla Coke again....as I mentioned in Facebook n' Twitter, sweeter than I remember...but just as addicting in retrospect. Also had Peruvian 'Inka Cola' and Italian 'Beverly'. Beverly is bland, BTW. Took a glass bottle home and drank it up. Yay. Tried Domino's since it was the closest thing available (IE, delivery). I'll grant it is not as bad as they do indeed claim anymore. Not exciting, but servicable. ONE DAY AGO: Aaaah, got up earlier for this one. Headed over to the Centennial Park and wandered around since it was warm and sunny. Thought about making a fool out of myself in the fountain thingy, didn't. Went to the CNN building and toured-really boring. There was a reason I did not mention it much, in all honesty. One of the more extensive food courts around, though. Headed to the Georgia Aquarium. Again, military discount-fuck yeah, Atlanta! I love you for that since you're the cheapest place discount-wise I've seen for servicemembers thus far. ANYWAYS. Only twenty-one bucks. Not bad. As some have seen, the gators and the sharks seemed to eye me with interest, which is always a bad sign. I'm apparently delicious-looking. But otherwise pretty fun. Poison dart frogs are colorful as hell. Saw the whale sharks get fed. There's not much to say-I mean, you're looking at aquatic animals-but I had fun just whiling away time doing just that. Afterwards headed into this really freaking saccharine 'Museum of National Patriotism'. Duh, they let military in for free. But CHRIST. So fucking saccahrine and gag-worthy, and I'm a proud Merikunt. And kinda boring, too. I already have seen all the military uniforms Kthx, I work with people who wear 'em and use one myself. Also your gift shop sucks. Also your movie with the talking Statue of Liberty sucks worse. Went back to Underground and the flag store. For my history geeking's sake, I bought the King's Colors Red Ensign, Grand Union Flag (my personal favorite since becoming an Anglophile and still being a colonial nerd), Confederate flag, and of course Old Glory. I also bought the Bonnie Blue flag in honor of my time in Pensacola and the Republic of/His Majesty's Province of West Florida. You know. The lost American subdivision. Went to find food since I ate totally unhealthy on this trip. Made mistake of Hard Rock cafe. Meal was overpriced and the chicken some of the worst I ever had. TODAY: I headed back. Surprisingly took me the same amount of time I did to get here, sans a breakfast break at the Lenox Square Mall. As noted, Lady Gaga seems to be the only thing on the radio and whilst I don't mind that, perhaps switching to the jazz channel will be needed for a bit to break up monotony. Speaking of Gaga, I apparently missed the Grammies. Notable only for the fact I had a TV at my motel room and did not use it once. Hooyah, bitches. Carrie had mentioned she lives in town, so maybe if I go back I can say hi to her. She's the one who noted there's plenty of racism in town and that I apparently had sheer dumb luck to avoid all of it, as well as noting I chose a shitty part of town to motel in (the motel itself wasn't fancy, but the people were friendly and the location hella convenient for me, so). Yay, combine this with maybe dragging a co-worker over next time and I actually can have multiple peeps to deal stuff with in the city. I never got to see the Cyclorama or hit up a comic shop in Decatur I wished to check out, so next trip whenever I'll do those, next. Good times. |

So Atlanta is pretty awesome, touristy-wise at least. Having fabulous time so far. Will write up far bigger post tonight when things finally close down for the evening. Will stay tomorrow? Or maybe go back to Augusta. Cannot tell yet. At the least, compromise by spending last day in Atlanta, and then go back in the nighttime hours. |

Tomorrow-or at least the next day at worst-I am heading to Atlanta for three days at the least. It's kind of sudden, since I was only plotting it for a week now, but it's coinceding with my newfound rather positive attitude and I've been in dire need of going someplace where there's actually stuff to do. There's not much else to say on it, other than I tried to get some of the workplace peeps to come with me. Sadly, the schedule is screwy enough even if I WASN'T staying a couple nights over, just a day trip or whatever, no one has more than a day at best on their off time to come with. Nutters. I'm pretty aware of the wastefulness of money of staying nights there when I'm about two to three hours away from the city, but I am a cross of lazy, just getting paid, and not feeling like alloting time just for driving to and fro each day, which would probably cost as much in gas money. So I will do what I did on my classic road trips and plunk down in a cheap motel hopefully only just outside or just inside the city. I'm also aware it may end up super-cold or rainy or whatever, but that is a risk I am willing to take. ------ I almost bought Animal Man's issues by Grant Morrison. That shit is some of what got me into comics-period, since it was so surreal-but the TPB was only for the first half of his run and as a Borders-found, 1990 TPB I was unlikely to find the second part. I could not be deprived of the entire set! ------ Sleeping for four or hopefully five hours at a time lately. Blaming this on a cross of stress and caffiene. ------ JESUS PEOPLE IN THE CIVILIAN VERSION OF MY WORK LINE APPARENTLY MAKE SIX FIGURE PAYCHECKS. I AM GETTING MY FUCKING DEGREE IN THIS SHIT. |

NEW rule: Go to bed as early as possible on nights off. Don't get into habit of becoming too thinky on life. I am kind of impressed how daylight really can change my mood. Stay in day as long as possible. |

Yours truly has tried to go to bed around four yesterday, but upon tossing and turning gave up on that at seven, had breakfast and bathed, and then went on outside for the day two hours thence. Turned out to be pretty relaxing and it was nice having pizza again for lunch. Augusta, sadly, does not really have much even in the historical part of the city or commercial parts that can be easily replicated in other, more charming places like Charleston. This insomnia is bloody killing me. Staying up to seven in the morning or so and hoping to finally, finally get myself back in working order. Will have to manage caffeine intake a bit better as well. ------ Speaking of bad places, you know that I could go and make more as a civilian doing the exact same job I am now working for the government rather than in a military capacity? It's a sadly attractive proposition considering how ensnared I feel in my position right now and I'm going to have to research into it a bit more. This is especially if I cannot get out of Augusta in the next two years on a ship or temporary new base for some mission for a couple months or half a year or whatever or better yet, permanently in some form. In which case the primary argument is mostly that my paycheck is gauranteed no matter what whilst still in uniform. Which, to be fair, is a pretty strong argument these days with the economy still in the tubes, don't get me wrong. I say this because so far the new year is still turning out better than last year, but I don't need to become all depressed-losery again. At least I shall let myself fight a hard battle against that before becoming ever more an emo-angster. Next weekend I shall probably go to Atlanta, waste money on a cheap motel for a place to stay since I'm on night schedule and driving two or three hours to-and-fro kinda sucks, and hit up the touristy parts just to get out in an INTERESTING place. It sounds nice. Afterward, I don't know. Tour other southern cities like I always said I would in two days and three nights or less. |

Internet died for a bit, which sucks. Add in oversleeping too. Probably a sign to get out more since I was panicking on what to do. Going out to eat for a bit, let's hope it goes better. |

Oh man, I need to start using this more, even if just a handful of you guys are left that're active on my friends list. Ticking off shit: 1. X-Mas was nice. I consider it the start of my new year. 2. Had a falling out around new years' with a friend but got over that. Bitch anyways. 3. Taking petty officer promotion in March. Going to E-4 soon hopefully. 4. Back got sprained after trying out squats with my new heavier weights, but I'm better now, and doing just fine so far with them. 5. Night shift means daylight hours. Slowly going out more, and with me needing to do good works and interact more and stuff with the navy for promotion points, by default I gotta. 6. Want to hit the road again this summer. Andy and Chicago are probably my biggest bets right now to see. Also hi 7. Um. I admit I'm waiting for the new Pokemon games with glee. Once a week I'll try to make a serious entry. That seems about right. |

Sweet. In all seriousness-it's become a pretty good trip again, very relaxing-and most of all a lot of fun. I'm aiming to have fun today and hit some towns...and most of all, it snowed. Hoo-yah. I love you guys, I really do. |
