Introduction to Steve Messenbird

With over 40 years’ experience in people leadership, Steve is an expert in creating unique, productive successful teams around the globe. He does this by concentrating on the individuals within a team by unlocking their full potential. He helps reveals individual’s values and goals whilst putting in the strategies required to support people through life’s challenges.​

Steve worked for Merlin Entertainment for over 20 years. Working in many operational roles within this leisure business along with sales and marketing, strategic planning and budget management. In 2003 Steve took the role of Global Customer Service Director, a job he considers to be the best job in the Contact Centre Industry. He grew a small team based in London to 4 separate global centers in London, Sydney, Florida and Hamburg with a team of over 400 people. ​

Creating effective, self-managed teams was paramount Steve’s success. “Under my leadership each team was equipped to deliver a world class customer experience to our guests, whilst supporting the rest of the business by handling all customer interactions”.​

Before joining Merlin Steve ran a chain of petrol stations which started his journey into leadership. “I learned quickly that an effective, productive and happy team was the key to success. Creating a working environment of fun and recognition leads to a team of loyal and hard-working individuals”. He also owned a pub and in a previous disguise was a clown called Bimbo!!!!​

Steve’s real-life experiences have now led him to life as a coach, setting up his own business called Blue Turtle Coaching and Mentoring Services. Two years ago, Steve teamed up with Trevor Butterworth and UKCCF team to deliver a bespoke coaching experience to the Contact Centre Industry. ​
Along with many special guests, these podcasts are a unique way for Steve to impart his expertise and share his extensive knowledge to those that need it within this fantastic industry.​

The course is typically broken down into lessons that cover specific topics. Each lesson includes an audio lessons, exercises, reflection prompts, and when appropriate optional reading material.
