We are a group of medical students from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Since 2015, we have been traveling to the rural province of Dang, Nepal to assist in the screening, diagnosis, and education of patients with sickle cell disease, an inherited blood condition that can be debilitating if not properly managed. In partnership with Creating Possibilities Nepal and Her International through the UBC Global Health Initiative, we aim to alter the outcomes of sickle cell disease in this population while offering first-year medical students the opportunity of a lifetime.
