Congratulations! For your prize I was going to buy you some extra userpics or paid time, but of course you have a permanent account. Maybe icons? Fic? We can discuss in the comments, yes?
Thanks to everyone for participating and making this so much fun. We had some good times, we had some bad times, but in the end Fandom Steel Cage Match March Madness taught us what's really important: alienating your flist. You'll never be able to look at each other the same, will you?
And in case you missed it, I've created a comm for next year's game: f_march_madness! Feel free to join now; it'll remain inactive until March 2010, when the insanity can begin all over again.
3. Check here for the full bracket sheet and here for all previous rounds.
4. NO BITCHASSNESS. I am all for good-natured trash talk and bemoaning the evilness of the bracket, but I draw the line when you start complaining. Before posting a comment, read it over. Can your comment be construed in any way as a criticism of the game or typicrobots? Could it be read like you're telling typicrobots how to run her own game, LJ, or life? Do any of your sentences start with the phrase "Not to complain but..."? If you answered yes to any of these questions, SHUT IT DOWN.
5. Any fake journals created after I started this game (March 3) will not be counted. If you think I'm not willing to postpone this entire game just so I can go through all the votes, you underestimate my dedication to this. I'M LIZ LEMON, AND I'M BUYING ALL THE HOT DOGS AND GIVING THEM TO THE GOOD PEOPLE.
NOTE: Because this game got bigger than I ever expected, I've created a comm for next year: f_march_madness! Feel free to join now; it'll remain inactive until March 2010, when the insanity can begin all over again.

ETA: THE NEXT PERSON TO SAY THAT JON STEWART SHOULDN'T BE INCLUDED IN THIS POLL BECAUSE HE ISN'T A CHARACTER, I WILL SLAP. THIS POLL IS BASED ON LAST YEAR'S POLL, WHICH WAS BASED ON AN INFORMAL POLL I MADE UP FOR MY FLIST, AND JON STEWART WAS INCLUDED IN THAT ONE AND JON STEWART WILL ALWAYS BE INCLUDED. SHUT. IT. DOWN.
ETA: Whoever is creating all those fake LJ accounts for the sole purpose of stuffing votes, STOP IT NOW. Your votes won't be counted, because you're an ASSHOLE.
ETA: WHY DO I HAVE TO BRING THIS BACK? CHECK HERE FOR THE FULL RULES, AND PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO #4: NO BITCHASSNESS. GOD, FANDOM, THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.
Character campaign posters for easy pimping! If you don't want to use any of characters below, feel free to keep using the standard banner (http://i42.tinypic.com/xgk4mu.gif) or create your own!
1. In the bracket sheet above, each bracket is a single match-up. Choose which character you think will win in the polls and move them forward to the next round, until you fill out the entire sheet. Leave a comment in this post numbered 1 through 63 with all your predictions. All prediction comments will remain screened until betting is closed on Saturday, March 7, 1-2PM EST.
2. Each correctly predicted character earns you the number of points assigned to that round, with a possible total of 1240 points. Using a math even I haven't figured out yet, I'll tally your predictions and whoever has the highest score wins a prize! (I haven't figured that out yet either.)
It's that time of year again! And it's bigger and more complicated than ever. For those who weren't around, last year I cruelly forced my flist to choose between their favorite characters via poll. I then turned those poll results into the most ridiculous game in all the land: FANDOM STEEL CAGE MATCH MARCH MADNESS!
Rules/Directions
1. Following the schedule below, I'm going to post a poll featuring the winners of each round, and you guys are going to vote for your favorite characters until we get one 2009 FANDOM STEEL CAGE MATCH CHAMPION. Polls will remain open until the next poll goes up.
2. There's going to be a fandom office pool! Once the prelim polls are closed, I'll post a bracket sheet and you guys can place bets. The winner of the pool will attain ETERNAL GLORY. And a prize.
3. Pimp! I want to see campaign posters and trash talk all over my flist.
Use the code below to pimp:
ETA: 4. NO BITCHASSNESS. I made this poll at 2AM and had to figure out a way to whittle down a list of like 100 shows into 4 neat brackets of 16 and look up all the characters and put together this entire poll, so if I left off a show or a character, TOO BAD. Courtney, this isn't a democracy, it's a cheer-ocracy, and I'm being a cheer-tator AND A PAIN IN THE ASS.
Winner(s) of the Fandom Office Pool will be announced some time tomorrow, and then we can decide on prizes. Thank you all for participating and making this ridiculous idea kinda legit!
Elite 4 polls are closed, Championship polls are open! Choose the character you like better, for whatever reason. Polls will close around 1-2PM EST tomorrow.
ETA: Championship polls are now closed. (The winner is based on Championship poll results as of Wednesday, March 26, 1:27PM EST.)
NOTE: I just realized that I named the rounds wrong (today's polls are Final 4, yesterday's were Elite 8), so I'm updating the schedule with the correct names. This doesn't effect voting or the results, so no worries!
Elite 8 polls are closed, Final 4 polls are open! In each match-up, choose the character you like better, for whatever reason. Polls will close around 1-2PM EST tomorrow.
ETA: Final 4 polls are now closed. Vote in the Championship polls! (Championship polls are based on Final 4 poll results as of Tuesday, March 25, 1:33PM EST.)
Sweet 16 polls are closed, Elite 8 polls are open! In each match-up, choose the character you like better, for whatever reason. Polls will close around 1-2PM EST tomorrow.
ETA: Elite 8 polls are now closed. Vote in the Final 4 polls! (Final 4 polls are based on Elite 8 poll results as of Monday, March 24, 1:27PM EST.)
Last night, instead of sleeping at a decent hour, I filled out my NCAA brackets and then had a BRILLIANT IDEA. There were 16 fandoms in yesterday's poll (minus the two multifandom questions), so you know what that means: 2008 FANDOM STEEL CAGE MATCH MARCH MADNESS!
Here's how it's gonna go:
1. I'm gonna officially become the most ridiculous person in fandom and host this ridiculous game (oh look, already done!).
2. Starting Saturday until Tuesday, I'm going to post a poll every day around 1-2 PM EST featuring the winners of each round, and you guys are gonna vote and knock characters out until we get one 2008 FANDOM STEEL CAGE MATCH CHAMPION. Polls will remain open until the next poll goes up the next day.
3. WE'RE GONNA BET IN THE FANDOM OFFICE POOL. Comment here with your predictions of who'll win each round (I've conveniently numbered the bracket sheet!) and the winner(s) will get some kind of prize (fic? icons? We'll work something out.). You'll have until the first poll starts to get your picks in, and then betting is closed! (Comments will be screened until then too.)
4. I don't care how you vote - if you know the characters, if you don't know the characters, if you just like their names or their hair or the fact that they look like they could probably protect you in a post-apocalyptic world - just vote! And bet! AND PIMP!
