Hello audience! I am a nonspeaking, multiply disabled Autistic adult. I use a big variety of AAC systems, letterboards and keyboards and iPads and typing and symbols and independent and facilitated and everything in the middle. Sometimes I type on a keyboard with help of a support person, sometimes independent, sometimes use letterboard with communication & regulation partner (CRP) translate into typing and posting for me. I will try to post semi consistently but can’t guarantee this.
I am a white Jewish degendered-and-very-gendered queer in the Midwest, who wants all to be free. I love plants and botany, everything surreal, folk music, cats and bonobos.
Expect me to advocate human rights, Expect me to challenge what you heard AND what you heard against that other thing you heard. Expect me to water the solid stuff until they break down and their nutrients flow to us all not just those who called worthy. Expect me to do that in a way that not always be as “poetic” as that sentence. In ways that make others uncomfortable, angry at times.
Don’t expect me to tell you how I use the bathroom or how many HPC hours I get every day. Don’t expect me to translate kids I don’t know or reveal hidden mystery of my brain and body. As Adam Wolfond so delightfully wrote, I am very much longing for questions other than ‘what is autism ‘. Don’t expect inspiration. Don’t expect insight. Don’t expect any word that starts with the prefix “in ” in general. I am coming from the “out” because I have been pushed to the “out” and found that the out is a nice place to be. our freedom comes from the out so that is where I am.
I am very very new to blog design and I want to make this blog accessible to everyone. I have a hard time typing image descriptions because of visual motor problems and problems with connecting sights to words at first, but I will try! I usually write a not so good one at first then edit it. I also want to make it cognitively accessible so please tell me if you need summary or translation into simpler language.
