Sun-kissed
trees
dance
leaf to leaf
as light
breezes
take
the lead.

A dock reaches out
to tap into the flow —
currents and eddies
converge on steel
and cement —
ships and
silhouettes
caressed by the
Columbia River.

Tidal debris castaways —
their messages scrawled
on sand, wood, and foam —
dots and dashes
a Morse code
to save our souls.

With the slightest
breath of wind —
leafy sails billow
on masts of trees —
drifting ships
in a blue-green sea.

In an incomplete state —
the half life of my soul —
where can I be whole?
Night skies
shrouded by
clouds —
Earth blind
to stars &
constellations —
moonlight
a distant dream —
pull this blanket
over me.

Beneath towering trees
soft winds brush waves
love seeps into stones
rippling through hearts.
