This is the first one I did. I like the focus totally on John/Rodney, without outside interference. However, it still felt a bit empty, so I made the one below and that way she can choose which one she wants to use (or both if preferred!).



This one shows Teyla and Elizabeth, the women who have the most influence in John and Rodney's lives. Elizabeth is placed between the men as she is the person who could stand between them should she choose to be. Teyla is shown behind John as a sign of the support she provides him.

It was a great story - I really enjoyed it. If you're in the market for a good SG-Atlantis fic then head over to the community and read it!

Way of the Wolf by E.E. Knight

My rating: 4 of 5 stars


First of all, let me start out by saying that it took me a good four months to read this book. Not because it was boring or lacked intrigue, simply because I read it while I got my infusions and occasionally when I took a hot bubble bath to relax. With that pretext out of the way, let me get to the review.



Mr. Knight seems to be highly influenced by a recent sci-fi television series. I refer to Stargate SG-1. The first few chapters were almost an identical set-up to the way the Stargate 'universe' is set up with the Asgard, Goa'ould, etc. This did not detract from my enjoyment of the book in the least. In fact, it gave me a reference point from which to understand what he was describing. So, either he or I like that show far too much to be able to draw so much from it. Probably me... I am an uber-geek when it comes to sci-fi.



The story spun out well, with plenty of backstory where it was needed, and I felt an almost instant liking of the main character, David Valentine. The ending was a surprise to me, as I was almost certain that for the books to continue the girl would have to die, but she did not - at least in this book. I was very appreciative of the glossary at the end, because it did take about 2/3 of the book to figure out exactly who/what the Quislings were. That leads me to wonder if perhaps it couldn't have been a bit clearer in the books for the descriptions of much of what was in the glossary. Nevertheless, it is there, and if you choose to read this book, I suggest starting with the glossary at the end.



About the only real negative I found in the book was not even Mr. Knight's fault: poor editing. For a novel that size (380 pages) I would not expect to find a half dozen or more typos and/or word omissions. That looks poorly on ROC Publishing, but again, not up to Mr. Knight to catch.



All-in-all, I expected to like this book from the beginning, that's why I went ahead and bought the first three in the series at BAM last year, and I was not disappointed. I look forward to starting Vol. 2: Choice of the Cat tomorrow!

I love cold weather as long as I can bundle up to be in it. I love to watch snow fall, but since that doesn't happen much here, I settle for watching it rain. On rainy days I prefer to be indoors with a cup of coffee or cocoa and watch television or write, but that doesn't happen often either because I'm normally driving to work in the blasted stuff. LOL

I do tend to get a bit grumpy if the rain lasts more than a couple days. I need doses of sunshine interspersed with the rain - much like in life!

I'm selling off most of my Beanie Babies in preparation for the possible move sometime in the not too distant future. (That whole 'they're relocating my office 60 miles away' thing.) I had posted a msg to one of the Beanie comms on LJ that I would sell them for $2-3 each, and a woman responded wanting to see them. So I drag three large baskets out and take pictures of all of them. Told her $2 each plus shipping if she wanted all of them, $3 each plus shipping if she wanted to pick and choose. She picks out 10 of them, then asks me if I'd consider trading. TRADING? Lady, I'm trying to clear out clutter, not add to it! Told her about the move and her words? "eh, then I'll pass."

Thanks for nothing BITCH!

Federal Inspector

A cocky Department of Agriculture representative stopped at a farm and talked with an old farmer. He told the farmer, "I need to inspect your farm."

The old farmer said " OK, but don't go in that field."

The Agriculture representative said, "I have the authority of the U. S. Government with me. See this card? I am allowed to go wherever I wish on agricultural land."

So the old farmer went about his farm chores. Later, he heard loud screams and saw the Department of Agriculture Rep running for the fence and close behind was the farmer's prize bull. The bull was madder than a nest full of hornets and the bull was gaining on the Rep at every step.

The Old farmer called out, "Show him your card!!"

Nothing has happened, except that I don't trust the new owners of the company I work for, and though they may be the most liberal-minded creatures on the planet, I've heard they are Republicans primarily (I'm gonna get eaten alive for that remark, I can hear you all now! LOL) and as such aren't open to the Slash that I love and live for.

Fic journal is still open to the general public, so if you want to read my fics, they're easily available. If you want to read my musings and ramblings, just drop a note on the comment page that will show up on Jan. 1, 2007. If you want to de-friend this journal, that is also an option, no hard feelings. As it stands, I'm going to make sure everyone that currently has me friended gets the favor returned, and if you decide to part company, then I will oblige as well.

Now, I'm off to go get intimate and personal with my Haven DVD.... *bg*
