Arts & Culture
TRIUMF’s programming explores the collision points between art, science, and community. We connect local and national artists and practitioners with our researchers, engineers, technicians, and students to develop new ways of thinking about discovery and our Universe.

COLLABORATIONS
TRIUMF collaborates with artists, designers, and cultural practitioners to recontextualize big ideas from within science and academia; explore new pathways for learning and knowing; and empower our wider communities in understanding scientific research.
Our arts and culture initiatives include:
- Leaning out of Windows, an SSHRC-funded interdisciplinary art and science project that saw artists and scientists ‘leaning out’ of their respective windows to co-design, curate, test, and analyze models of collaboration.
- The Global Physics Photowalk
- An artist-in-residency program
- Various exhibits and installations across Canada
- A TRIUMF-themed craft beer collaboration

50 years, 50 stories
December 15 2024 marked the 50th anniversary of first beam at TRIUMF, which first sprang forth from the cyclotron back in 1974.
We created a museum-inspired, narrative-focused website that explores TRIUMF’s rich history from the perspective of our community, highlighting how our lab came to be the internationally-renowned facility and home for subatomic physics research in Canada.
We’ve made every effort to make this new project accessible to everyone. You’ll find it optimized for mobile and tablet viewing as well compatible with all modern web browsers.
We are pleased and proud to share the site with our community: 50stories.triumf.ca
