At the Institute for Social Transformation at UC Santa Cruz, we accelerate research and scholarship in the public interest. We turn knowledge into action and create significant, beneficial, and lasting change locally and globally.
Our work includes justice-oriented, community-centered efforts that enable the creation of equitable societies, resilient democracies, and environmental regeneration. We also provide UC Santa Cruz undergraduate students with hands-on research and internship experiences that prepare the next generation of changemakers to make a positive impact.
