Ok, so I learned something today. You can get a bug bite on the eyeball. Let me add to that learning experience that it SUCKS if you have an allergic reaction. The ten point list:

1. Trip to the E.R.
2. Sit and wait
3. Repeat 2
4. Take eye test, despite an eye that looks like a tomato, still test out at 20/15 in both eyes at 36 years old (sweet)
5. Get seen by the doctor, the eye checked out, some funky UV dye test
6. Get prescribed antibiotic eye drops and an oral steroid
7. Thank ______ (Insert deity here) for health insurance
8. Finally arrive home for company that has arrived some three hours and change earlier
9. Describe the ordeal on LJ
10. Profit?

Ok... where's my profit now?

One of the many reasons I love my job:

Our elementary guidance counselor has a rug with smiley people faces on her floor. Pretty standard fare for a building like this, general cheery stuff to make it less clinical looking. Some of our kindergartners went in, instructed to sit down on to the carpet. I was waiting for the knee-high procession to quit the hallway, and I heard from the other side of the wall, through the door, in that I-have-no-idea-what-I-am-saying-because-I-am-5-and-excited-about-everything voice, "I'm sitting on a girl's face!"

My thought? "Just wait till college, kid, and I'll bet you say that again."

So, Exile hit me with a question on IM. I don't see why he gets uptight about his courses at school. They're so easy. Take for example:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Exile: Sample calculus exam problem: Find the volume of the solid obtained by rotating the region bounded by y=x^3, y=8, and x=0 about the y-axis.
Me: Answer: Bigger than a breadbox
Exile: How do you know
Me: The answer has to be available within 20 questions or you lose
Me: Your school gives diplomas
Me: You have to be able to win
Me: So the answer should be typically available in there
Me: A breadbox is a container of volume, and "Is it bigger than a breadbox?" is a typical question involving volume.
Me: Because there is a positive in "Yes, your university gives diplomas," then the answer can not be no, because that would create a counter to the yes and make things negative. Your university would not give diplomas.
Me: We know they do.
Me: Because your university gives diplomas, the answer is "Bigger than a breadbox."
Me: Besides... you listen to Rush and Hannity. That is much more solid logic than most of their arguments
Exile: *takes you to the vet*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

He threatened to get me fixed...

Your result for Which Were Animal Would You Be? Test...

You are a Were-Wolf!

70% wolf, 20% rat, 20% horse, 60% tiger, 40% leopard, 20% fox and 30% bear!

Wolves are predators, but unlike many predators they are also pack animals. Legend has them as being the original were animal.

Wolves are very expressive. They have distinct faces they make that are easily read to show what they are thinking or feeling. They use facial and body language as well as yips and yowls to communicate exactly what they want.

Wolves are dedicated to their mates. They will groom each other, travel together, and sleep side by side. They also join their scents so that other wolves know that they are taken. Wolves in a pack protect one another.

As a were-wolf you will be on the hunt for as many as 20 miles, but you won't have to hunt alone.

Wheee. So I'm back in the states, but in Buffalo watching it snow hard. :p

At least I should be able to head out this afternoon. Continental kind of wins the award for jerking people around at Newark yesterday.

Their Process(TM):

1: Blah blah, thank you for flying, get off my plane bitch.
2: Go through customs
3: Get your baggage
4: Take IT through another customs line
5: Recheck your baggage for your connector at another point
6: Go back through security
7: Come to the departures screens to find the flight you were supposed to be on, cancelled.
8: Get told "No standbys, 6AM."
7: Get your 6AM flight cancelled, 9PM flight cancelled, Noon flight cancelled
8: Get told "Well, we should have enough standby room at 5PM..."
(This is where you think they might be cancelling because they don't have
full planes for Buffalo)
9: Get ON to the 5PM flight thankfully on standby, (At 6PM)
10: Arrive in Buffalo and be too pissed off/tired to drive another 3 hours back to Clarion
(That last bit is all me, not Continental) :)
11: Wake up to a foot of blowing snow and more coming down!

Well, as I said, hopefully I can get out around noon today. The trip to Scotland was good, though I am REALLY looking forward to getting home at this point! I want my own bed!
