This game is really nice, it captures the theme very well. I completely understood what i need to do, and i get the theme right on.
The fire indicator is great. It tells me which building is on fire and how far they are, helping me to strategically decide if i want to save a bunch of buildings that's far away or one that's quite close to me. One small UI note: I think the indicator needs to be drawn above everything else, including the HUD (or, making the HUD transparent is also an option too). Because the stat menu on the top right can obscure the fire indicator of buildings that's in the north-east.
The game can also benefit from the use of a minimap, to make the player better understand where they need to go to reach a point. The game resolution could also need some attention because on device with smaller screen resolution, some widgets on the HUD might not be visible.
Overall, it's a great entry!

Hi, thanks for playing the game! And thanks for liking the style! I'm quite happy that many people are liking it.
As for the bug, I’ll definitely look into that to make sure it's working as intended. While i can't update the game for this game jam, this feedback will help me to polish my future games! Just some context on those mechanics in case it helps: saved items should be accessible through the local file system, and you can use them right away by either double clicking on it or right click then use (or equip if it's an equipment). As for the remote server, the close button is disabled if you're in an encounter, so you have to use the flee button.
If that's not it, it might indeed be a sneaky bug I missed! Thanks again for the support!
Hi, thanks for liking the art style! I'm not really that good on pixel art, so hearing you liked it means a lot!
Actually, you can use the health patch whenever you want! It doesn't have to be in a fight, because you can access the file system program whenever you want and use the files inside. This game also doesn't limit the character's maximum health, so you can keep healing the player. The only limit is the disk space; it only has 64KB space, so the character's health data can't go beyond that!
Hi, thanks for enjoying it! My interpretation of the theme is 'You can't save all the files that you found on the network explorer'. This is because the player only have a limited space on their disk (64KB). I wanted to encourage player to be smart of what files they choose to keep in their local file system. Though, the game doesn't really forces you to save all files, and it is still beatable, but it might make the journey more challenging!
I like the sound design and the UI in this game, they're pretty cool and worked together. And with the art combined, it created a chill game experience for me.
As for the gameplay, i do managed to beat the game, though i didn't come into a big challenge besides finding fuel for the train. Somehow foods stop disappearing (consumed) from the inventory, and no one starved. As for the drink, maybe i'm just lucky because there's so many lake on my path.
Good job on the game!
I like this game because it is very polished. It's simple enough, but everything is done well, from the fun factor, art style, and audio & music. The tutorial is also very helpful, and it's nice you've managed to put it in this game jam submission.
The only feedback i would give is maybe the combo pop up in the center is too big, that it might distract the player from seeing the shape(s) correctly. Other than that, everything else is crisp. Great game!
Managed to beat the game through the end! I don't know if It's just me that just not quite observant, but I think it would be nice if there's a clear way for the player to know how much they can afford on hurting the dolls unintentionally from throwing them around (accidentally hitting the walls or other obstacles too hard) in an attempt to put them in safety before they're actually "killed". I just think this helps the forgiveness mechanic the game gives.
That's just my slight opinion. It didn't ruin the overall experience of playing this game. I think the game is a fun, physics-based game with fun designed levels and traps! The difficult levels at the end are quite challenging, but completely doable and not frustrating to complete. The retro sound effects are nice too, and works well with the pixel arts. Well done!
It's fun and intense (combined with the music and marching sound of the troops). The art style is nice, it feels cohesive and makes me feel like my empire is at war with a formidable enemy (and they did beat me, eventually).
Using the slider to send the amount of troops can be tricky, especially if you want to send a specific amount under countdown time pressure. Maybe adding a +1/-1 and +10/-10 buttons could make it easier for players to control the amount. Just a little opinion from me!
WARNING!! Don't fund any files at the end of each work day, because there's a bug that prevents you from actually funding it. Doing so will only drain your funds!
Anyway, i hope you liked my little game! Despite some bugs, missing textures for most of the file icons, score balancing issues, and some unfinished features, I'm glad I've made a solid basic ground for a tycoon game that i personally find unique and could be expanded to be much a fun and memorable experience, with many opportunities like in-game interaction between the players and the various game studio's departments that i could delve into more. I'm proud of making this game and i learnt a lot in game development from participating in this jam!
This game has a really cool concept that i think fits perfectly for this game jam's theme! I can see the potential this game has if developed further like for example some new defenses and different bonuses/perks you can get from commanding the ants. Also I might've missed it but I'm not sure if there is a benefit from building walls around all three castle. Overall it's a fun game with cool art!
Hi, thanks for playing my game!
And thanks for the feedback! I noticed the controls need some revision, as many people have mentioned. I will try to create better controls for my future games, especially platformers.
Also thank you for the kind words! This is actually my very first game that i ever published. To hear that people actually liked it really motivates me to keep making more games.
Hi, I'm glad that you enjoyed my game! Sorry to hear the troubles you had to go through to play the game, should've taken those things into account before exporting the game in desktop build. Will definitely keep that in mind for future game jams and to opt for a web build! I will also make sure to always give a more precise and consistent control instructions for my future games. Thanks for the feedback!
I think I have an idea on what level You are referencing to. I might not have introduced the full mechanic of the slime properly in this game. Actually, You can jump over those slimes to gain a jump boost effect! This allows You to jump higher than you normally can, it's enough to let you reach the tall cliff on the right side of the level!
Also, that is an interesting glitch that You found. Is that has anything to do with the slime perhaps? Would definitely try to find and replicate it on My own and fix it.
I will also definitely overhaul the control mechanics and add a reset button later for a full version to make My game a generally more enjoyable experience. Thanks for giving a feedback! I'm glad that You liked the music I made for the game!
Hi, thanks for playing my game! I'm glad that you liked it!
Thanks for giving a feedback! And no, You didn't miss the reset button. As of now, unfortunately there is no reset button implemented yet. So, the only way to reset the current level You're in is to intentionally die by either falling off the world map (assuming there is a pit) or colliding into a slime (also assuming there still any slime exist). I realize now that I should've implemented this feature long ago early in the development stages, because this is such a simple but crucial feature that my game very much needed. But, I will definitely add this feature in the future along with additional levels and new mechanics! I also will definitely try to use more of the color palette to emphasize more each of the two sides.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you once again for trying out my game!
