High-Performance Web & Software Experiences
About Tona Designs
Tona Designs is a design and software development studio based in Palm Desert, California, focused on building high-performance websites and digital experiences for businesses that value quality, reliability, and thoughtful design.
Founded by developer Paul Valenzuela, the studio was built on a simple idea: websites should be treated like products — carefully engineered, well-structured, and designed to perform.
Too many websites today are built around short-term marketing campaigns rather than long-term usability. They’re often launched to support a specific promotion or advertising effort, only to become outdated once that campaign ends. In many cases, the business owner eventually loses the ability to easily update or manage the site, leaving it stuck in time or dependent on outside help for every change.
At Tona Designs, the goal is different. Websites are built with a long-term engineering mindset — structured to remain reliable, maintainable, and adaptable as businesses grow. By combining modern development practices with thoughtful user interface design, the result is a website that stays fast, functional, and visually relevant for years to come. The aim is not just to launch a website, but to create a digital foundation your business can confidently use and evolve for decades.
Meet the Founder – Paul Valenzuela
Built on Curiosity and Engineering
Paul Valenzuela, founder of Tona Designs, was born and raised in Bermuda Dunes, California, where his curiosity for technology began at an early age. Without regular access to a computer growing up, he spent countless hours on his iPod watching YouTube videos of developers building applications—sparking a fascination with coding, innovation, and the future of technology.
He went on to earn his Associate’s degree in Physics from College of the Desert before continuing his education at California State University, Long Beach, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. During this time, Paul developed a strong foundation in engineering thinking—learning how to approach complex problems, design scalable systems, and think strategically about building impactful technology, brands, and products. His involvement with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) further deepened his passion for web development and modern software.
Alongside his technical journey, Paul cultivated a deep-rooted interest in business from a young age. Growing up around his grandfather’s construction company, where his mother worked, he was immersed in the day-to-day operations of running a business. From invoices and branding materials to client interactions and operations, he developed an early appreciation for structure, presentation, and entrepreneurship. By his teenage years, he was already launching small ventures—from selling custom clothing online to experimenting with digital business ideas.
After graduating, Paul returned to the Coachella Valley and founded Tona Designs—a company that represents the intersection of his passions: technology, creativity, and business. What began as a vision has grown into a platform for building modern websites, software tools, and digital experiences that help businesses thrive.
Today, Paul leads Tona Designs with a clear mission: to empower businesses—locally and beyond—with high-quality digital solutions that elevate their brand, streamline their operations, and unlock new opportunities for growth.
