...so long and hard they're about to start loading the animals into the ark...
And as I watch an L-shaped line of water appear on the ceiling of the bedroom, and the drops start to fall on the hardwood floor, I hope it stops raining before something really bad happens. LOL
I'm going to have to spend some time trying to figure out how to manage both LJ and dreamwidth in an integrated fashion. Unless someone wants to just explain it to me...? Is it even necessary? Have many people left theses parts? I see mostly cross-posting, but not too many outright abandonments.
Anyway, I need to get back into writing. The easiest thing is to make some effort to finish a few of my Superman/Batman stories. I'll have to start with one of the stand-alones because I'm rusty and would hate to mess up one of my series with rusty writing. I've narrowed it down to either finishing The Aleph or writing out the Cinderella riff that I was supposed to include in my last zine project. I have them both open.
The Cinderella story feels a bit like cheating because even though I have the plot outline, I don't have any of it written, so it doesn't quite qualify as me finishing a WIP. I suppose it doesn't matter. Best to just start...somewhere. Maybe I'll just keep working on both of them until I get particularly inspired.
It's been so long since I've even thought about posting to this journal that when I went to do so I realized that I didn't even have a LJ client on my laptop any longer to post things with. Is that pathetic, or what?
I am very far behind the fandom times, and in looking at my f-list I see that most of what I have is comm posts rather than posts from individual people. That's really strange. Has everyone abandoned LJ or dispersed to dreamwidth? I wonder what happened to qirky_circe and greeneyelove? I see trascendenza is back *waves*. Ah well, I will have to build things back up, then. That's often the way of things.
bradygirl_12 has clued me to the fact that I'm woefully behind on popular fandom culture. I guess I'll have to get caught up on some movies and some TV to figure out where the herd has migrated to. I see I'm also in dire need of a new header and some new user pics.
So much to do! I also feel bad that so many people contacted me about a Superman/Batman zine for the past holiday and I never got back to them. I guess I'll need to visit journals and make amends... ;)
I have...SO MUCH WORK TO DO...tonight that I'm sort of frozen with an inability to do anything at all because there is so MUCH that needs to be done.
First, I procrastinated the ENTIRE holiday weekend, lazed around, reading old star trek novels and watching TOS episodes on CBS. I didn't do ONE THING that I needed to do.
Now, I'm a day late with the charter application... I have two sponsorship proposals I need to write for a special event... I have three powerpoint presentations to do and a concept paper... I have three websites to set up... I have to finish prepping a 501(c)(3) application for a nonprofit I work with... And I have two grant proposals I need to complete... Sort of by the morning...
Plus my mother comes back into town tomorrow, and I have to pick her up at the airport at 11:30 am and play taxi for half the day (Theresa! To my Brite Smile appointment in Manhattan! Theresa, to my nail appointment in the Bronx! (Be back to pick me up in two hours!) Theresa! To my spray tanning appointment in Morris Park! Theresa! To Sephora at the Westchester! Chop Chop!)
It's effing 9 pm. I'm never going to finish everything...
Maybe I'll just watch another episode of Star Trek...
Doing some journal housecleaning and removing people from my f-list that I never really got to know or whose journals--because of divergent interests--I don't follow closely enough to comment on myself from time to time. It's nothing personal, just trying to keep the friend's list in order.
I usually add people back if I start talking to them again for some reason, so we may connect again in the future. Also, if you were around just in case I got back into writing, if you subscribe to my "fanfic" tag that should notify you if I write anything since I'll tag all fanfic with that tag across all fandoms.
If you, too, would like to rotate, you can find the instructions HERE.
Basically, all you need is a hosting account. If you don't have a host and want to rotate, LMK. I dumped my server but I can upload a folder for you to my world's finest site.
...I'm steadily working through my correspondence...Man, I've been working for hours. I think taking a hiatus from LJ is too much work on the back end. LOL My LJ life requires steady maintenance. *g*
Next up: responses to LOC on fanfic...*sigh* :))
On another note: They changed the name of the Triboro bridge in New York City to Robert F. Kennedy Bridge. This makes me happy. :) Now we can take the RFK to JFK! Hee! Very good. But they haven't changed the signs yet. I think they should have had the sign change ready in time for the announcement (which happened a few weeks ago). I don't care that the city is broke. LOL I seem to recall that when they changed the name of the West Side Hwy to DiMaggio Hwy, the signs went up quick.
So sorry for being incommunicado for so long, my dear LJ-friends! Much drama and upheaval has been on the boards in RL that has disinclined me towards fandom and online socializing. :) I've been in a solo mode, which included much contemplating, reading of SPN Dean/Catiel and X-Men Scott/Logan, watching 6 seasons of 24, and playing of video games like Fable 3 and Fallout 3. But! I think I'm back, and will try to get caught up with LJ, to the extent I can.
First! I want to thank everyone for their kind birthday wishes. I've been so far off the scene for the last...6 weeks?...that I'm surprised anyone would be thinking of me. lol I'm very grateful to everyone for their thoughtfulness, including:
♥ eisakay for the wonderful card that arrived right on time;
♥ ladybugkay who wrote me a wonderful Clark/Bruce story called Sight for Sore Eyes, which everyone should go read if you haven't already;
Tomorrow, I'm going to start uploading the comics scans again, and will post details over at wfslash. I'm also going to tie up the loose ends over there regarding that contest I ran in...September? Last, I will update the S/B archive and my various other S/B related projects, and get caught up with personal correspondence forthwith.
Right before I took my hiatus, I pared down my f-list and comm memberships, expecting I wouldn't have time to keep up. I'll likely expand again, now that I'm back in the groove, so don't think it strange that I'm signing in and out of things. *g* I also have fic-updates for people who have been asking me about that, which I will start posting tomorrow.
On another note, I've decided to jettison some of my direct involvement in Smallville fandom. I'm going to shut down the LexSlash yahogroup and let the lexslash.com domain name expire. That will retire the website and the archive. I'm going to keep open lexslash and ollieville and will likely only work on ollieville going forward to any significant degree.
Finally, I am sending out holiday cards this year. If you would like a card from New York, send me your addy at tmelange at gmail.
Umm...I think that's about it. Crack the whip and let me get back on my fandom horse. :))
...to play my xbox this summer. So I played Lost Odyssey, a Japanese RPG which took me quite some time to finish. I found the game interesting but I wasn't particularly enamored with the RPG aspect of the game play, and the outrageous number of sequential cut scenes.
Then I dusted off Jade Empire, the Bioware RPG that has a playable slash romance between the two male characters. It never gets old to have slash options in a video game set in ancient China. :)
Then, still itching for a RPG-like game or at least a game with some pretty graphics. I bought Devil May Cry a couple of days ago. Let me tell you, I must be old, because I can't figure out how to play the damn game. At least the character designs are really nice. So far I've seen two white-haired knights of some sort, both gorgeous--for animated guys. It would be cool if I could...slash them together. LOL
*sigh* I wonder how long it's going to take me to figure out how to play this thing? I wonder if it's worth my time...
Which buttons do I have to mash sequentially again...?
This may be belated (and/or I'm completely out of the loop) but I'm a bit frantic wondering where the Superman/Batman archive is. I used to have an account a few years ago, and only recently got…
So I have loved this fic for a while now, and I'm begging, pleading with you, to update. I can't seem to get it out of my head, even when I'm reading other fics. They just don't compare to the story…
