This year I’m working on something similar to what I did back in 2021, I will be using song titles as inspirations for written pieces. However, “the twist” this year will be instead of individual (mostly) standalone works, I will be writing chapters/segments of a single, continuous story. Kind of a dumb idea, but you know.
“Something for Frank” will follow Harry Gilbert, a musician struggling in the wake of COVID-19. His situation is becoming more and more dire; however, an enigmatic billionaire offers him a gig that could help turns things around. But, he soon realizes the true nature of the billionaire’s desires.
The chapter titles will come from songs on an old iPod Harry has found so there will be musings on nostalgia and music.
Just some warning about the content: the narrative will be conveyed through Harry’s journal entries so if you don’t like obnoxious first-person ramblings, this may not be for you. It will, of course, discuss the ongoing COVID situation and its political surrounds. There will be debates about art, politics, games and nostalgia. I don’t think there will be sex or violence so if you’re fan of those things then I apologize.
