Scott Luton’s Post

Good Friday morning all. Since 1970, April 22nd has been celebrated across the globe as Earth Day. Last weekend, on Easter Sunday, Amanda & I had the opportunity to take the kids to Stone Mountain here in Georgia - - and participate in the sunrise service. It was remarkable. We got there in the cold, quiet, dark, wee hours of the morning, long before the sun came up...and early enough to watch cloud cover move in and obscure the ATL skyline. But when the sun began to rise that morning, it was spectacular, The image below, with the sunrise and the cloud cover, just doesn't do it justice for what we experienced. We all have plenty to be deeply grateful for. With that said, it's incumbent upon all of us to take action to protect this beautiful home of ours. As part of our 2022 Supply Chain and Procurement Awards, our team received outstanding nominations from teams taking impressive action (with considerable results) when it comes to "Building A Sustainable Future": ▶️ OpenText has helped its customer digitize their operations on a massive scale: 33 billion paper transactions each year that now happen digitally, saving almost 300,000 metric tons of paper or about 6.52M trees. ▶️ ALOM announced a NetZero Supply Chain Sustainability Initiative in 2021, pledging to achieve a net zero carbon footprint across all client programs by the year 2030. They’ve also taken actions like ensuring all company facilities across the U.S. are powered by electricity that is 100% generated by renewable sources. ▶️ Amongst Concentric's good work, their team has helped a Fortune 500 food processing company eliminate over 700,000 cubic feet of hydrogen gas used on a yearly basis; they’ve also helped the company eliminate some 1,073 metric tons of carbon. ▶️ Inmar Intelligence's mission is to keep as many returned items as possible in commerce & out of landfills. Their good work over a 12-month period has led to a 99% landfill diversion rate for the 600 million units that the company has processed. That’s kept about 200 million pounds of materials OUT of landfills. That's just a few of the nominees for our "Building a Sustainable Future" Award. Make sure you join us for our live Awards program on May 18th, which will also feature Tim Nelson with Hope for Justice and Slave-Free Alliance. Also, big thanks to our friends at Coupa Supply Chain, powered by LLamasoft, for sponsoring our efforts at not only celebrating success across industry, but more importantly raising awareness of Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking, so that our global #supplychain community can be more informed & take more action to eliminate these travesties. Join us (along with about 1,200 folks thus far). Register: tinyurl.com/22xtdues ▶️ One last item: I just love Scot Case's Earth Day tradition here. Scott Luton Thanks for the kudos to the Concentric team! We are proud and humbled to be one of many organizations driving towards a sustainable future for our children. Love what Supply Chain Now is doing with these awards. They further highlight that a sustainable future is happening now.

Thank you for the shout out, Scott! We’re kindred spirits. I’m looking forward to our next chance to laugh our way through a conversation.

Continue Earth Day celebrations by attending the Sustainable Supply Chain Pledge Day on April 24th! This year, the 2nd Annual Sustainable Supply Chain Pledge Day is 10 times larger than 2021. Thank you for your support Scott Luton and Supply Chain Now This event is FREE, but must register prior to the event to secure Event Access. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2nd-annual-sustainable-supply-chain-pledge-day-tickets-201127918017
