Prosfic Bingo: U is for Under Surveillance, L is for Limbo...
J is for Just Enough Rope, Q is for Querencia
I continue to chomp through the fics I selected.
Under Surveillance by Ellis Ward starts out with Bodie and Doyle surveilling a lesbian colleague. I liked that part; I've always wondered why there aren't more fics in which some of the female CI5 agents are lesbians, as it is clearly implied in Long Shot that some of them are. The rest of the fic I felt neutral about, except for one aspect that confused me. I think there might be some text missing from the story, as there is an event referred back to twice that is never actually described. 5,774 words. B/D slash.
I read Limbo by Thomas because I have been admiring her vids lately, but had never read any of her fics. I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It has good dialog, and although it is not a plotty fic, it draws the reader in with the desire to know what happens in the end. 7,397 words. B/D slash. Just Enough Rope by byslantedlight finds Doyle and Bodie in the aftermath of a protracted op. This was another very enjoyable fic. It had some similarities to Limbo in that it doesn't have an exciting plot, but still manages to build suspense and keep the reader eager for the conclusion. It had some fine writing as well, and good characterization, especially of Doyle, who was the POV character. 7,634 words. B/D slash.
Querencia by Marnie, which can be found in the archives of the Prosfanfic group, is an older Lads fic in which Bodie has become the head of CI5. It was a mixed experience. I really enjoyed the first part, which had a lot of good emotional beats as well as some mystery. The second part was confusing. Although there was no note anywhere to that effect, I think that Querencia may be a sequel to Nemo Me Impune Lacessit by the same author, and not intended to make sense without knowledge of that fic. 17,267 words. Gen.
