Thomas David Murphy was born at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and grew up as a military dependent, experiencing life across the globe due to his family’s deep-rooted commitment to service. As the child of a dedicated United States Air Force member, Thomas was immersed in diverse cultures and environments, shaping his worldview and instilling a profound appreciation for service, resilience, and adaptability.

Thomas attended grade schools worldwide through the Department of Defense education system, ultimately graduating from Rincon High School in Tucson, Arizona. He pursued higher education in Criminal Justice, earning both an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree from Kaplan University, followed by a Juris Doctor degree from Purdue University Global. His dedication to service is further exemplified by his graduation from the US Navy Basic Hospital Corpsman A School and Psychiatric Technician Navy C School.

Professionally, Thomas served as a United States Navy Hospital Corpsman with the Fleet Marine Force. His career was marked by multiple deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, showcasing his unwavering commitment to his country and fellow service members. After 20 years, 6 months, and 17 days of active duty service, Thomas retired, having earned the respect and admiration of his peers and superiors alike.

Thomas’s political involvement was sparked by a desire to change the direction set by his current U.S. Senator, Lindsey Graham, particularly regarding global war stances and progressive policies. He has actively supported South Carolina Senate candidate Zoe Warren in 2024 and has advocated for multiple Lexington County school board candidates. His key issues include lowering taxes, reducing deficit spending, school choice, secure borders, avoiding global wars, closed voting primaries, medical freedoms, protecting 2nd and 1st Amendment rights, establishing term limits for Congress and the Senate, prohibiting stock trading by Congress members, and repealing DEI policies.

Thomas’s values are rooted in devotion to team and mission, setting and exceeding standards, and being selfless, honest, and accountable to constituents. He draws inspiration from countless leaders throughout his military career.

In his community, Thomas is an active VFW member, a goalkeeper on USA Hockey’s amputee team, and involved in amputee and veterans outreach. He volunteers in disaster relief, cancer research fundraising, and multiple veterans support entities.
If elected as the U.S. Senator for South Carolina, Thomas aims to return to absolute conservatism and be accountable to his constituents, not lobbyists. He pledges only to vote for conservative judicial nominees.

In his personal life, Thomas enjoys hobbies such as hunting, playing hockey, playing musical instruments, competitive cycling, swimming, running, golf, shooting sports, church involvement, and raising money for various charities ranging from veterans to cancer research.
