Ever wondered how to get kids, young people, and other family members interested in learning more about the people in their Family Tree? Our solution is to make it FUN! Introducing ThisIsFamily. An app that provides the user a fun way to learn about their Family Tree by creating avatars representing themselves, family members, AND their ancestors throughout history! First, they ADD people to their Family Tree by responding to prompts for the basic information (name, birth date, birth place, death date, etc.) about themselves and their family members (living or deceased). Second, the user BUILDS the avatar representing each members in their Family Tree by selecting from a wide variety of facial features and era-dependent hair styles, clothes, hats, etc.-all in living color. In addition, they can view how a family member might have looked at different times in their life using a Timeline feature. Then, they USE these avatars to tell stories from the lives of family members by placing the avatar(s) of selected family members in the provided backgrounds or backgrounds they add. Next, they can CREATE a Photo Album with family portraits, group photos, and snapshots of family events. Finally, they can SHARE the images and information they learn with others using text, e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, and other online resources. All of these experiences provide a FUN way for them to learn more about their family members and what makes them who they are. It also encourages them to talk with living relatives to learn more about the individuals in their Family Tree. In addition, it provides an incentive for them to dig deeper into their family history by accessing their Family Tree data directly from FamilySearch.org. Learning more about their Family Tree gives them a better self image and makes them better suited to face life’s challenges. In addition, these experiences will help strengthen family ties and build a stronger family unit. MyFamilyTree...the fun way to learn who you are, by learning where you came from!

Also fixed problem that occurs when downloading ancestors on Family Search with no death date. 1.16 03/31/2021 Fixed problems that occurred in some circumstances related to avatar feature images and with the audio recorder. Also fixed issues that occurred when changing the gender of an avatar. 1.15 03/28/2021 Fixed several bug related to some images used when creating Avatars. Also fixed a problem that occurs in isolated situations when downloading information from Family Search. 1.14 02/28/2021 Adjusted layout issues associated with new iPhone 12 models. Fixed problems in Photo Album when deleting photos in Album and when multiple pages of photos were created. 1.13 12/02/2020 Updated app to be compatible with iPhone 12 models. Fixed User Input issues on some iPad models. Minor bug fixes. 1.12 10/30/2020 Added capability for user to switch between display of an Avatar and a photo downloaded from Family Search for the various portraits in the Family Tree. Several minor bug fixes 1.03 09/27/2020 Fixes problems encountered when multiple users access the app. Also fixes some issues related to Photos and the Photo Album. It may be necessary to uninstall an existing version of the app prior to installing this version.
