ThinLinc is a high-performance remote desktop server for Linux, developed by Cendio ThinLinc. It enables organizations to deliver full Linux desktops and individual applications to users anywhere, using lightweight clients for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Raspberry Pi, or a browser via an HTML5-based Web Access client. ThinLinc secures all traffic with SSH and uses an optimized VNC/RFB display protocol to provide responsive, reliable sessions, even over slower networks.
Designed for scalability and ease of management, ThinLinc supports clustering and load balancing, session persistence and roaming, and centralized administration through a web-based console. Key user features include multi-monitor support, audio redirection, local printing and drive mapping, clipboard synchronization, and smart card support. Authentication integrates with existing identity systems via PAM, LDAP, and Active Directory, and can leverage Kerberos single sign-on and smart cards.
