When your team remediates their own ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) digital accessibility and compliance issues, it saves your organization time and money. Having practical accessibility remediation knowledge will build a long-term knowledge base and a culture of accessibility within your teams. That’s where WeCo’s Accessibility Support service comes in.
Our consulting, support, and remediation services can be thought of in two types: do it yourself, or do it with us.
Why WeCo for accessibility support and remediation?
What sets us apart from many web accessibility consultants is that every person on our team is living with one or more disabilities. We use technology and real people to help make your site accessible to people with hearing, sight, cognitive, and physical disabilities. We are experts in WCAG compliance, 508 compliance, and ADA digital compliance.
DIY digital accessibility compliance
If you prefer to implement your own 508 and ADA remediation, WeCo’s digital accessibility audits will provide your team with everything they need to know to make your website accessible to people who live with different abilities. Included in all of our accessibility audits is a free recheck of challenge areas to make sure everything is working the way it should be.
Do-it-with us direct accessibility support
When clients have limited resources to implement everything from an audit, our experts work alongside yours to make sure your website complies with ADA 508 and WCAG 2.2 AA criteria. We help your team learn about accessibility, not only so your website meets compliance standards, but also so you and your audience benefit from accessibility. See the section “How digital accessibility support works” in the next section on this page to learn more.
How digital accessibility support works
Digital accessibility support is a custom-focused consulting service. WeCo Accessibility Specialists work directly with your team in flexible ways that help them solve issues and learn accessibility remediation through hands-on and discussion experiences.
WeCo’s digital accessibility support services are available for new website launches (pre-build planning) and for existing websites (remediation support).
Digital design pre-build planning: WeCo’s Accessibility Specialist will review your advance website designs and help you create a plan to build in accessibility. We always include a specialist who is blind and a specialist who has sight to provide you with both non-visual and visual feedback.
Q/A sessions: Gather your “sticking points” for accessibility, and a WeCo Accessibility Specialist will brainstorm and walk your team through potential solutions.
Instant Impact: WeCo’s real-time solutions are based upon our specialists’ lived disability experience and digital accessibility training. They are highly relevant to the needs of your users with disabilities.
Accessibility device demos: Our Specialists and Testers can demonstrate their screen reader, Braille laptop, or speech recognition software on your website.
Instant Impact: We can focus on areas of accessibility challenge and help you pinpoint workable answers in real-time.
Process revamps: Let us help you find the accessibility weak points and bottlenecks in your development process. We can even help you identify where to insert accessibility practices if they’re not already part of your process.
Instant Impact: Your team will come away with a wealth of ideas to make your accessibility processes easier to implement.
Accessibility guide construction: As you develop team accessibility practices, putting them into a digital guide is an excellent idea. WeCo technical writers and Accessibility Specialists can help ensure that the end document is WCAG-compliant and accessible to everyone across your organization.
Instant Impact: No more guessing or debating. WeCo assistance will make the process faster and more efficient.
About accessibility overlays and widgets
If you are using an accessibility overlay application or widget, WeCo will require you to remove the software before and during the time that we perform your audit and remediation. Why? These overlays impede accurate usability testing, and they do not meet all WCAG requirements. Our testers will not be able to use their assistive devices (such as screen readers and speech recognition) to audit your site.
