Housed in thermally efficient stainless steel canisters, the sample first undergoes a precise controlled rate freeze (CRF).
Once it reaches the user-defined target CRF temperature, the frozen sample is robotically transferred to a permanent storage address in liquid nitrogen.

The BioArchive System is an automated storage system for the preservation of stem cell units for future use. The BioArchive utilizes a Liquid Nitrogen storage system, ensuring that all samples are stored in a consistent -196oC environment with a 3600-sample capacity. Integrated controlled rate freezing minimizes handling and protects the units from transient warming events (TWE). The integrated robotic system ensures consistent and precise handling of all units, maintaining maximum cell viability throughout the storage process. By using a proven, computer-controlled technology and tracking software, the BioArchive provides the best protection for today’s high value cell samples that meet tomorrow’s stem cell therapy needs.
- Samples are stored at a consistent -196°C temperature
- Constant temperature control through closed-system sample handling with robotic storage and retrieval
- Integrated control rate freezing
- Delivers up to 94% post-thaw cell viability1*
- Individual storage and retrieval of cell samples results in minimal exposure to transient warming events (TWE)
- Automated tracking of individual sample freeze curves and storage in LN2 assures maximum confidence

Precision Automation. Confident Results.
The integrated control rate freezer is designed with intuitive guidance and minimal input to minimize user variability. During the freezing process, the temperature of the unit is constantly monitored by integrated temperature probes through the window in the freezing cassette. The program is completely automated and designed to maintain maximum cell viability throughout the freezing process. The software documents an individualized record for every freezing process.

Robotic storage removes the risk of TWE by maximizing the time the sample remains under liquid nitrogen. The integrated camera allows the system to read the barcode label on individual units for accurate storage and retrieval.

Controlled Freezing. Confident Results.
- Controlled-rate freezing process, a sensor monitors the sample temperature
- This individual controlled-rate freezing maintains the sample’s cell integrity during the freeze cycle
- The CRF controls the rate of freezing based on temperature and time until the sample reaches -50°C
- Once the sample reaches -50°C it is then moved from the CRF and is placed in an unique location for storage. It can then be independently retrieved without compromising other samples cell viability
- Three-dimensional, 25mL, dual-compartment blow-molded freezing bag and a stainless-steel canister ensures precise, uniform freezing
- An overwrap bag adds further sample protection during storage in LN2
- Tracking with Certainty. Storing with Confidence.
Safety for Samples. Safe for the Operator.
The liquid nitrogen dewar is a double-walled stainless-steel reservoir that holds liquid nitrogen for freezing samples. A vacuum is maintained between the walls, which effectively insulates the storage dewar. Minimal ports for the control rate freezers reduce the potential exposure to liquid nitrogen. Filling of the system with liquid nitrogen is also automatically controlled by the software further reducing the risk of exposure. Integrated liquid nitrogen level sensors monitor the level of the nitrogen and will alarm to prevent exposure of the samples.
