A focused, virtual 5-hour training that combines 2 hours of self-directed preparation with a 3-hour live synchronous session, designed to build real-world readiness for difficult moments in psychedelic care.
This training is open to a wide range of practitioners and curious learners, including:
- Psilocybin guides and psychedelic-assisted therapy practitioners.
- Mental health professionals working with or preparing to work with psychedelic therapy clients.
- Therapists, counsellors, nurses, and physicians seeking grounded first aid frameworks for altered states.
- Members of the general public with an interest in harm reduction and psychedelic safety.
No prior psychedelic training is required to attend.
- Recognising psychological and physiological distress in psychedelic contexts.
- Grounding techniques and de-escalation approaches for difficult sessions.
- When and how to escalate to emergency care, and how to communicate clearly under pressure.
- Ethical and relational considerations in crisis response.
- Case-based discussion and practical scenario work.
5 hours of structured learning
Complete 2 hours of self-directed preparation before the live session, then join for 3 hours of interactive, facilitated training.

Meet your facilitator
This training is led by Rich Tyo, RP, developed through Neuma Centre in partnership with TheraPsil.
Rich Tyo, RP, B.Soc.Sc
Rich Tyo is a Registered Psychotherapist with 13 years of frontline experience in mental health and addictions crisis work. He has trained in ketamine-assisted therapy, psilocybin therapy, Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor psychotherapy, and somatic and relational approaches to psychedelic care. He supports clients in preparation, integration, and group and individual medicine journeys.
In 2022, Rich co-founded Neuma Centre, a community-focused space supporting group psychedelic work and education in Kingston, Ontario. He also founded the Kingston Psychedelic Society and has spoken globally on psychedelics, harm reduction, spirituality, and PTSD. Since 2019, he has mentored emerging practitioners through Students for Sensible Drug Policy's Pipeline Mentorship Program.
Neuma Centre
Neuma Centre developed the Psychedelic First Aid curriculum, drawing on years of community-based psychedelic education and harm reduction work. Their practitioner-facing approach ensures this training meets the real-world needs of guides and clinicians in the field.
Common questions
Do I need prior psychedelic training to attend? +
No. This training is open to everyone, from psilocybin guides and therapists to members of the general public with an interest in harm reduction and psychedelic safety. Some familiarity with psychedelic contexts will deepen your experience, but it is not required.
What happens after I register? +
After completing your registration and payment, TheraPsil will follow up by email with access to your 2-hour prep materials. Complete these at your own pace before May 20. You will also receive a Zoom link and full session details ahead of the live training.
What is the participant guide? +
The participant guide is a resource developed by Neuma Centre that supports your learning throughout the training. It is included in your $249 registration fee (a $50 value) and will be provided to you upon registration.
Will I receive a certificate? +
Yes. Participants who attend the full live session will receive a certificate of participation from TheraPsil upon completion.
Is this training eligible for continuing education credits? +
We are exploring CE credit eligibility. If this is important to you, please reach out to TheraPsil directly and we will do our best to accommodate.
