For more than thirty years, The Nubian Message has amplified marginalized voices at NC State. We’ve fearlessly told the stories that other publications don’t—from the shutdown of Black Male Initiative and Native Space to book bans. We’ve developed state and national award-winning reporters and designers. We’ve persisted despite obstacle after obstacle, from the pandemic to losing over half our print issues.
One of the best ways to support The Nubian Message’s mission is by donating to support our push to raise $3,000 for our own enhancement fund. An enhancement fund would support leadership and travel opportunities for our journalists. You can donate on NC State’s Day of Giving on March 25, To donate on Day of Giving, donors must do all of the following:
➜ Go to dayofgiving.ncsu.edu
➜ Scroll down to “Search for an area to support” and search “Student Media Enhancement Fund.”
➜ Click “view” under the Student Media Enhancement Fund” tab
➜ Click “Make a Gift.” Note: You will not be able to make a gift until the Day of Giving.
➜ Make a donation to the Student Media Enhancement Fund.
➜ After paying, leave a note on your donation saying, “For The Nubian Message.” Without a note, it will not count towards our enhancement fund push.
To donate the rest of the year, donors must perform all of the following steps:
➜ Make a donation to the Student Media Enhancement Fund.
➜ After paying, email [email protected] and [email protected], saying what name is attached to the donation and that the donation is intended for The Nubian Message. Without that email, it will not count towards our enhancement fund push.
You can also purchase merchandise from The Nubian Message here. Finally, businesses can help support us by purchasing advertisements in print and on our website by contacting the Student Media Business Office at [email protected]. You can learn more about advertising here.
The Nubian Message is currently hiring writers—no experience required! Writers are expected to:
- Attend weekly meetings
- Write articles for print & online production
- Finish assigned articles in a timely manner.
After a training period, writers will be paid a flat rate of $15 per article.
