General Workshops
Activities for each topic may vary depending on group age levels, time allotments, and group interest.
Art: Learn the history of modern art; elements and techniques of design; virtually visit art museums around the world; and make art pieces using different media!
Space Science: Activities may include: Learn how to read a star chart to find your way in the night sky; what eclipses are & how to safely observe them; what causes sunspots & solar flares; make a constellation-viewing cup; learn about star life cycles and colors; make a moon phase foldout, and build a Moon Base! For Overnight Camp-Ins, we will also go outside to observe the night sky in the dark (weather & time permitting).
Stones and Bones: A fun combination of Geology and Paleontology! Activities may include: Learn about the rock cycle, plate tectonics, earthquakes & volcanoes, and the Geological Timescale; learn about the fossil record and how fossils form, then make a fossil imprint. There will be a Science on a Sphere presentation, and we’ll do mineral testing and explore the IMAG fossil and rock collections!
Weather (NEW Workshop): Everyone needs to learn about weather! We’ll learn about the water cycle, lightning, cloud types & what weather they bring, dangerous weather conditions & how to prepare for them. We’ll learn from our Science on a Sphere and IMAG weather displays. Participants will research weather conditions for a fictional trip they might take to a different region. We’ll also make a weather instrument to take home!
