✅ NFHS (High School Baseball): One-way electronic communication from a coach in the dugout to the catcher is permitted for the purpose of calling pitches. The device may only be used while the team is on defense, and the coach must remain in the dugout/bench area. Communication to any other player or any use while on offense is prohibited. NFHS rules are the baseline for most state high school associations — but individual states govern their own programs. Always verify with your state athletic association before the season. The Headset App is compliant.
✅ USSSA: Coaches may use one-way electronic devices to call pitches, but the system must be a listen-only earpiece for the catcher. No verbal responses are allowed, and other players cannot receive signals. The Headset App is compliant.
✅ Perfect Game: Explicitly PG adopted NCAA protocols. One-way devices permitted; live audio restricted to catcher only. The Headset App is compliant.
✅ Little League: Rule 3.17 updated in 2025 to permit one-way coach-to-catcher communication on defense, from dugout only. The Headset App is compliant.

Coaches may not use electronic devices to communicate with any other team member while on defense, or any team member when on offense. The Headset App is compliant.
✅ Cooperstown Dreams Park: Cell phones, iPad, and other electronic devices are permitted in the dugout only during the game. Based on an inquiry to Cooperstown Office, coach to player communication is legal to all players on the field. Coaches should confirm with their tournament director. The Headset App is compliant.

There are 3 key ways to solve this issue:
- Turn off WIFI on your phone
- Sometimes your phone will try to go between data and wifi. Just use data.
- Make sure your bluetooth earbud is a "Class 1" bluetooth rating.
- This gives you the most range from a device.
- Line-of-sight. Make sure your device has a clear line-of-site to your earbuds.
Troubleshooting: Too much background noise from other users. What can I do?
The hardware (actual headsets) you are utilizing is essential to solving this issue.
There are two (2) key ways to manage background noise:

I want to keep my phone on. How do I change the auto-lock timing?
Apple:
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to prevent your iPhone from timing out and locking the screen:
- Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone's home screen.
- Scroll down and tap on "Display & Brightness."
- On the next screen, you'll see the "Auto-Lock" option. Tap on it.
- You'll be presented with a list of time intervals ranging from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Choose the duration after which you want your iPhone's screen to lock or select "Never" if you don't want it to lock automatically.
- Once you've selected the desired auto-lock duration, press the "Home" button or swipe up from the bottom (on iPhones without a Home button) to exit the Settings app.
That's it! Your iPhone will now stay awake and the screen will not lock automatically until the set time duration elapses. However, do keep in mind that keeping the screen on for extended periods can drain the battery more quickly. So, it's recommended to find a balance between keeping the screen active and conserving battery life.
Note: The steps provided are based on the iOS interface as of September 2021. If you have a different version of iOS or if Apple has made any changes to the settings, the steps might vary slightly.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to prevent your Android phone from timing out and locking the screen:
- Open the "Settings" app on your Android phone. You can usually find it in the app drawer or by swiping down from the top of the screen and tapping the gear-shaped icon.
- In the Settings menu, scroll down and tap on "Display" or "Display & Brightness."
- Look for an option called "Screen timeout," "Sleep," or "Auto-lock." Tap on it.
- You'll be presented with a list of time intervals ranging from 15 seconds to 30 minutes or more. Select the duration after which you want your phone's screen to lock or choose "Never" if you don't want it to lock automatically.
- Once you've selected the desired screen timeout duration, navigate back to the main Settings menu or press the home button to exit the settings.
That's it! Your Android phone will now stay awake, and the screen will not lock automatically until the set time duration elapses. However, please keep in mind that keeping the screen on for extended periods can drain the battery more quickly. So, it's recommended to find a balance between keeping the screen active and conserving battery life.
Note: The steps provided are based on the Android interface as of September 2021. If you have a different version of Android or if the manufacturer has made any changes to the settings, the steps might vary slightly.

Baseball: Can I use an iPad as my second device?
Yes! As long as your iPad has a connection to the internet, it will work fine. We have many younger programs where kids don't have phones yet. Coaches will do the following to use an iPad as their second device:
- Download The Headset App on your phone -> Create your first account via email.
- In Team Tab -> send invite to your second email.
- Download The Headset App on your iPad -> create your second email account -> join your first team.
- Join a channel on both devices and you're up and running!
IMPORTANT: Remember, your iPad must have connection to the internet in some way. A quick way to do this is create a "WIFI Hotspot" with your phone and connect your iPad to that.
