Impact investors use GIIN IRIS+ to help structure data-driven decisions about investment design and to understand how they might manage impact performance for a given investment. Key components of IRIS+ include the catalog of metrics, containing foundational building blocks for analyzing impact performance in a comparable way, and the thematic taxonomy, which organizes investor intention into comparable impact themes.

The Operating Principles for Impact Management (the “Impact Principles”) are a global standard for integrating impact considerations throughout the investment lifecycle, hosted by the GIIN. Signatories commit to aligning their impact management systems and processes with each of the 9 Principles, as well as publishing annual Disclosure Statements and periodic independent verifications of their alignment.

GIIN Training is tailored for investment professionals such as Chief Investment Officers (CIOs), fund managers, portfolio managers, and analysts. It targets those interested in integrating an impact-focused perspective into their investment portfolios. Participants, whether they manage specific impact-focused segments or entire impact-driven portfolios, will learn the most current strategies for implementing a total portfolio approach across both private and public market investments.

Do you want to make a difference with your career? The impact investing job board highlights job openings from GIIN members and industry leaders committed to having a positive impact on the world. We feature job listings from non-profits, government agencies and companies working toward real impact outcomes for people and the planet.

The GIIN Impact Lab has launched two new software tools to help investors maximize the impact of their capital: the Impact Target Setter and the Impact Quantifier. These tools are designed to help asset allocators make more informed, comparable and context-driven decisions when selecting funds, setting impact targets and evaluating outcomes across diverse investments. Widespread adoption of these tools presents an opportunity to enhance both the efficiency of capital allocation and the effectiveness of impact and financial performance.

Impact investors use GIIN Benchmarks to identify investment opportunities with high impact potential. Benchmarks allow investors to gauge the impact performance of their investments to peer investments and identify strengths and areas for growth. These insights improve investment screening and selection, enabling investors to know which inputs and levers are most effective for impact outcomes. Please note that data contributions to the benchmarks are no longer accepted.
