Spatial Development
Future-proof area development requires a mobility approach that goes beyond incorporating infrastructure. By integrally including mobility from the design table, we create living environments in which sustainable transport choices become self-evident. We advise developers and governments on the optimal use of mobility as a lever for attractive, accessible and car-free areas. Our approach is data-driven and based on target group segmentation, enabling us to offer customized solutions that are both feasible and desirable, as well as contributing to a profitable development process.

Our approach
Mobility in spatial development in 6 steps
- Context analysis
We visualize the spatial context and accessibility. We do this both at the level of facilities (such as stores, education, public transport) and at the level of transport options. This provides a clear picture of the mobility position of the area - Reference study
We analyze comparable area developments in terms of mobility. This provides concrete frames of reference for standards, facilities and mobility providers, appropriate to the ambition of the project. - Trend analysis
We incorporate current trends such as partial mobility, electrification and changing travel behavior into scenarios relevant to the area. With this we make the mobility plan future-oriented and adaptive. - Target group segmentation
Based on more than 35 lifestyle typologies, we determine the expected mobility behavior of future residents. This leads to appropriate, target group-specific advice that goes beyond averages. - Parking calculation
We combine CROW guidelines, municipal policy and our own requirement estimates into a substantiated parking calculation. We take into account location, target group and available alternatives. - Appropriate mobility advice
We translate the insights into concrete recommendations. For example, the use of partial mobility, design of mobility hubs, and behavioral measures that stimulate sustainable travel behavior.

Iris Ruysch
Iris is co-owner of The Future Mobility Network and works in the field of mobility and built environment. As an architect from TU Delft, she has a great affinity for innovation and sustainability in the built environment and mobility. Iris has been involved in over 35 site and area developments in which she advises on the incorporation of mobility concepts such as shared mobility and hubs. In these projects Iris has written several mobility plans, usually as an interpretation of an MPvE. Iris can easily switch between strategic, tactical and operational levels thanks to her knowledge gained in the realization of approximately 100 neighborhood hubs in the municipality of Rotterdam.
