The Dude’s Abode is an attempt to create a more positive space for Men’s Issues to be discussed. The ‘Manosphere’ contains a great deal of, justifiable, anger and violent rhetoric but in the types of situations we now find ourselves in this can do more harm than good. Fighting the excesses of gender feminism is not enough, agitating and advocating for men and boys where they are disadvantaged and harmed, must be a priority.

As such, the pillars of TDA will be:

Reason: The quality of placing the intellectual over the emotional and the perspective of the ‘reasonable man’. The intellectual and measured approach is superior to the emotional one. However justified.

• Facts: TDA will deal in facts – where applicable – and will try to support opinions with facts rather than speculation and unknowns.
• No Shame in Mistakes: When mistakes are made they should be admitted without shame or reservation. That’s how progress is made.
• Tone: Contrary to the claims of many, tone is important. The reasonable and measured person is more convincing, comes across better and is more likely to be able to engage in debate than the ranting ideologue.
• Focus on Men’s Issues: Debunking bad feminism is still important, as it ends up doing harm to men and women alike, but the focus should be on promoting men’s issues rather than angry polemics against feminism.
