My Origin Story
I used to work the typical way-way-way-too-many-hours-a-day grind for a BigLaw firm. Let’s just say 12 years of that was plenty…
I’ve been a lawyer for 15 years. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law, I spent 12 years as a BigLaw litigator, going toe-to-toe with top attorneys and representing massive companies in lawsuits that no one wanted to lose. Contracts, compliance issues, regulatory disasters. You name it, I handled it.
I thrived on the challenge. For a long time, I loved the pressure. Then one day, I didn’t.
I took a year off to travel, get some perspective, and figure out what kind of life I actually wanted.
Somewhere between long-haul flights, I started my travel blog, Globe Trot Gal. That blog dropped me straight into the world of online business.
And what I saw shocked me.
So many smart, creative entrepreneurs were building impressive businesses with almost no legal protection. No contracts. No website policies. No idea what they actually needed to cover themselves. Others cobbled together legal language from free templates or copied someone else’s site and crossed their fingers. I knew how badly that could go.
That realization pushed me to create The Blog Law Guide, a legal resource for other bloggers where I break down relevant legal topics and sell legal templates for bloggers.
But my audience eventually grew to more than just bloggers, and I saw the same legal confusion across the entire digital space. With coaches, course creators, freelancers, service providers, you name it.
People were building all types of businesses without a legal foundation that could support growth, protect revenue, or back them up when something went sideways.
