The Future
- Brampton’s Innovation District actively nurtures CleanTech – and other tech -startups with world-class infrastructure: co‑working spaces, incubators, accelerators, along with mentorship and funding opportunities. This ecosystem enables companies from ideation to scale-up within the city’s core.
- Brampton’s ecosystem is built for innovation. Sheridan’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing & Design Technologies (CAMDT), in Brampton, offers cutting-edge tools like 3D printers and robotics. It trains students in mechanical, electrical, and AI/ML disciplines while collaborating on projects directly with local industry.
- Key players leave their impact. Stellantis, a CleanTech anchor, employs ~3,000 at its Brampton plant, now retooled for EV and hybrid vehicle production in a CA $3.6 B investment. This is a keystone in securing long-term manufacturing employment in the city.
- These major manufacturing projects surge demand for materials, logistics, engineering and professional services – fuelling growth in local SMEs, boosting revenue, and promoting economic diversity.
- As other Ontario EV plants come online by 2028, and federal/provincial CleanTech investments rise, Brampton stands to attract a major share of the province’s projected ~903,000 clean energy jobs by 2050.
- Beyond vehicle factories, Brampton is supporting new labs, upgraded production lines, and partnerships focused on hydrogen, smart grid, and low-carbon tech – aligning with Canada’s net-zero 2050 goals.
