The Warwick Finance Societies FinTech Hackathon brings together 150 students for a high intensity weekend of building, problem solving, and pitching at the intersection of finance and technology.

Over two days, teams will develop innovative solutions tackling real challenges across financial markets, data, payments, risk management, infrastructure, and financial inclusion. Participants will have access to industry mentors, structured support, and a competitive environment designed to simulate real world fintech problem solving.

What makes this hackathon special:

  • Direct access to professionals from leading firms across trading, investment banking, asset management and market infrastructure

  • A £3,000 prize pool

  • Dedicated CV workshops with representatives from IMC, Optiver, Goldman Sachs, Ares, Barclays, Bank of America, and Raymond James

This is not just about building something technical. It’s about building something that could realistically exist in the market.

Requirements

Requirements:

  1. Build a working prototype or technical solution addressing a fintech related problem.

  2. Prepare a short live demo (maximum 5 minutes) outlining:

    • The problem

    • Your solution

    • Technical implementation

    • Market opportunity / use case

    • Future scalability

  3. Submit on Devpost:

    • Project name

    • Team member details

    • A clear project description

    • A demo video (3 minutes max)

    • Link to code repository (e.g. GitHub)

Judging criteria will include:

  • Innovation and originality

  • Technical Execution

  • Functionality and Completion

  • Presentation and Clarity

All projects must be built during the hackathon timeframe.
