TeX Live is a comprehensive, cross-platform TeX distribution for Linux/Unix, Windows, and macOS. It bundles the major TeX engines (pdfTeX, XeTeX, and LuaTeX), LaTeX and ConTeXt formats, thousands of packages and fonts, extensive documentation, and command-line utilities. Its package manager, tlmgr, supports easy installation and updates from a worldwide mirror network, with options for minimal, custom, or full installations, including offline media. TeX Live is widely used for academic and technical typesetting, automated and reproducible document builds, and integration with popular editors such as TeXworks, TeXstudio, and VS Code (via extensions). It is free and open source under LPPL/GPL-compatible licenses.
