Welcome to TechTogether Seattle's 2023 Hackathon! We are excited to welcome you in person from May 13 - 14th, 2023. At TechTogether Seattle, our mission is to empower all people of marginalized genders by providing opportunities to gain valuable skills and explore tech in an inclusive, inspiring, and engaging environment.

The event will take place in the U Building at Bellevue College. To partake in this event, you must register here. Please refer to our Gender Inclusivity Policy before registering to make sure you are eligible. 

Join us for two full days of skill-building and professional development workshops, networking with recruiters, and of course - fun activities like face masks. Each attendee has the option to work with a team to build a project like a website or mobile application with the support of our mentors. Whether it's your first hackathon or your 100th, everyone has something to learn and contribute at this event!

TechTogether's hackathon season is brought to you by MicrosoftCapital One, and Balsamiq.

Requirements

You will have 2 minutes to present your project to each batch of judges, and an additional 2-3 minutes to answer any follow-up questions. Judging will be science fair style. We recommend doing a live demo of your project for your presentation. If your project is not functional, we recommend creating a short PowerPoint describing your project for the judges.

Stop 3: Deploy a Service to Azure! Using your Azure for Students subscription, deploy any Azure service. It’s incredibly easy to get started, with Quickstart Templates and user guides on Microsoft Docs. You can deploy any code you have from your Github repo directly into Azure as well.

This design challenge invites you to develop a hack with innovative and visually appealing user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX). Each member of the winning team will get a TechTogether bucket hat and a lego orchid set.

Planting the Seed for Growth (Most Growth)

This growth challenge invites you to get out of your comfort zone – learning is an important aspect when you are working on a project. Were you set in the knowledge you came to the event with or did you branch out and try new things? Create a project using new technologies and show off what you have learned at demos on Sunday! Judging Criteria

  • Originality
    Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem?
  • Execution
    Is the hack usable in its current state? Is the user experience smooth? Does everything appear to work? Is it well-designed?
  • Usefulness
    Is the hack practical? Is it something people would actually use? Does it fulfill a real need people have?
  • Presentation
    How well was the project presented? Did it make the hack more compelling? Did it give a good idea of its purpose?
  • Learning
    Did the team stretch themselves? Did they try to learn something new? What kind of projects have they worked on before?
