Italian major also makes preparations to drill Egyptian exploration probe. Iain Esau Africa CorrespondentLondon Eni has restarted drilling an exploration well offshore Libya, five-and-a-half years after being forced to suspend operations due to the Covid pandemic. The Italian major spudded the C1-16/4 well on 11 March 2020, but operations were temporarily halted by the Ensco 4005 rig on 14 April after the well reached a depth of 1012 feet. Libya’s state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC) said that this well has now been re-entered by Saipem’s semi-submersible rig Scarabeo 9 in Contract Area D in 743 metres of water.
