Why Trust Techreport
Your Go-to Source for
Honest Hardware Guidance from Tech Experts
Information You Can Trust
Launched over 25 years ago, Techreport is one of the oldest hardware, news, and tech review sites. Our mission is to provide helpful, unbiased coverage of the latest developments in PC hardware and software, peripherals, accessories, and more.
The editorial team was restructured to retain the best in-house talent, focusing on individuals with proven expertise in the tech and PC space.
We’re genuinely obsessed with providing user value and keeping readers informed, and this is central to our editorial standards.
Guides and Advice You Can Trust
Whether it’s hardware development news or informative how-tos, you can be sure that the information you find on Techreport’s pages is honest and unbiased. We uphold journalistic standards of integrity both on-page and off-page.

Experts with Industry Knowledge
As far as possible, we work with experts in the fields and topics we tackle. We don’t treat expertise as a checkbox – a degree or minimum number of years worked in a field, although both can help.
For us, expertise means being able to create accurate and insightful content that genuinely helps readers. This often comes with time, and naturally shows itself as deep industry knowledge that can be effectively communicated.
We offer detailed explanations with regards to our experience with PC hardware and computers in general, so readers can understand the level of expertise behind the recommendations. If we do not possess expert knowledge in an area, we seek authoritative coverage and rely on it instead.
Big purchases can impact someone’s well-being depending on their disposable income, as well as on intended expectations.
For instance, Certain Power Supply Units (PSUs) have manufacturer-specific power cables that have to be used with your PC components. If you don’t use the right cable there is a high likelihood of bricking your local storage.
Although many PC components are designed with modularity in mind, not everything can be matched with everything else. AMD and Intel motherboards have different CPU sockets, so you’ll never be able to use an AMD CPU with an Intel motherboard.
Trust Is Non-Negotiable
Content quality and accuracy are non-negotiable. Trust is also non-negotiable, both on- and off-page, and every single one of our contributors will attest to this.
From the latest changes in pricing and capabilities of GPUs, to the latest developments in enterprise storage or the terms and conditions associated with various AI tools, our entire editorial team is actively monitoring industry news and trends and we report on them to the best of our ability.
We are committed to reporting our practical, hands-on experience with PC hardware and software in a factual and transparent manner. If a PSU catches on fire or a power cable melts the PCIE connector, that is exactly what we will report.
Not all manufacturers or developers strictly adhere to factual claims in what concerns the marketing of their products, with or without intent. When we come across such cases in our coverage, they will be highlighted as such and we will do our best to also inform vendors themselves.
Although product endorsement liability is not a legal stipulation in all jurisdictions, we treat our work as if it is in order to ensure consistently honest and careful reviews
We appreciate you trusting us as a source of objective information, and value your trust above all else.
Editorial Independence
Techreport maintains complete editorial independence on all levels. While we may earn a commission from affiliate marketing deals with certain vendors, revenue does not dictate our content strategy or rating of services.
We only endorse products we’re not paid to review or, in other words, we do not review or endorse products in exchange for payment.
If we receive any remuneration to endorse a product, all content we create as a result of that compensation is clearly marked as sponsored/PR content. Furthermore, if any situations should emerge where we have a monetary relationship that is not covered by the vendors’ affiliate program, this will be clearly disclosed on pages where their products are mentioned.
All of our reviews have to adhere to our strict editorial policy and testing methodology for that type of component.
Corrections & Approach
We value the comments and feedback we receive from the community! All comments that are not spam, do not contain profanity, and are civil are appreciated. You’ll often see them live, and sometimes with a reply from a member of the Techreport team.
Disagreeing with us does not mean comments don’t get published – on the contrary, we welcome a diversity of opinions as we ourselves are not a monolith. We see open debate as an opportunity to enhance the quality of our coverage.
With many people working remotely, we understand how even one business day of downtime can lead to someone experiencing losses because of a component failure or mismatch.
We make it a point to highlight the differences between marketing and real-life requirements and use cases in order to give our readers an informed perspective on what is actually achievable with a given product.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Techreport
The Techreport team is committed to maintaining a diverse workplace where everyone’s views and opinions are respected. We encourage our team members to share their ideas and perspectives as we believe inclusion and debate lead to better collaboration, content, and journalism.
From 100% remote jobs to adjusting weekly quotas and KPIs to allow for proper research, discretionary days, and more, we are accommodating in our editorial collaborations and understand we’re working with people who have lives outside of work.
As an equal opportunity employer, we have a unique work environment with contributors from all over the world. Anyone who wishes to join our team is given equal consideration, based on merit, regardless of their gender, place of origin, beliefs, race, disability, age, or veteran status.
