With a history of success in transit, aviation, water, and infrastructure, Techno continues to lead with precision to deliver a lasting impact.
Khalid Mallick arrives in Norman, Oklahoma from Karachi, Pakistan to pursue his Masters in Civil Engineering at The University of Oklahoma, leaving a well paying job in Saudia Arabia and his wife and first son behind to pursue the American Dream. A year later, he ended up moving to New Jersey and finished his Masters at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to build his home base New York City.
Khalid spent close to 15 years working at Terminal Construction Corp, Shaw Environmental and Bovis Lend Lease across various Construction Management roles and projects, prior to beginning his entrepreneurial journey.
Khalid founded Techno in 2001 – at the age of 45 and with humble beginnings from his home basement. The first employee was placed on NYCDEP’s Croton Water Filtration Plant as a CM Inspector.
Over the course of the first few years, Techno steadily grew to double digit headcount serving Water & Waste Water Clients all across the Tri-State area and purchased a Corporate HQ for Techno in Princeton, New Jersey.
Over this 10 year period, the firm expanded our ability to serve various clients types and market sectors including PANYNJ, NJ Transit, NYCDDC, AMTRAK along with expansion into the Mid-Atlantic (Washington D.C. and Maryland).
Techno opened up official office in New York City, and expanded Senior Leadership team with additions of Prakash Donde and Farhan Syed in 2017, Wally Caban in 2018 and Suriel Zayas in 2022.
Zubia Mallick, daughter of Khalid Mallick joined the Firm from WSP’s Design Engineering Group to help build Techno’s Design & Engineering Services Capabilities, and eventually was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2024.
This 5 year period through COVID was emblematic of our commitment to our clients. In the wake of the Global Pandemic, our teams worked around the clock to ensure our clients and the public’s infrastructure needs were met.
Techno manages a team of over 150+ professionals as a part of our multi-disciplinary staff and we look forward to all of those will join us on our journey of growth!
