Chicago Torture Justice Memorials (CTJM)

This site is dedicated to the survivors of Chicago police torture who were brutally and systematically tortured by former Commander Jon Burge and his detectives and features an archive of speculative memorials honoring the survivors, a history of Burge torture, and testimonials by survivors. The CTJM collective is comprised of attorneys, artists, educators, and social justice activists committed to documenting this brutal history of torture and the struggle for justice in these cases. CTJM initiated a campaign for reparations for Burge torture survivors and their families and is working steadfastly in solidarity with other organizations and individuals for racial justice and to end police violence and mass incarceration.
