Strange livejournal weirdness encountered
Sat. October 1st, 2011 | 01:52 am
Currently:
relieved
- saw lj contest on halloween headers
- went to see if can customize my journal to use these headers
- played around with the menus for customizing my journal's layout
- saved option to always show the livejournal ribbon at top of my journal
- found it looked weird so went to change it back
- refreshed my journal and saw that dates on my entries where gone
- click ? on date & time format fields to try and understand what needed to go there to get dates to work
- couldn't figure out the problem
- did web search and had hard time finding out what was problem (found out that tranquility II layout communities all quiet)
- took plunge and tried the reset to defaults button, and see what was supposed to go in those fields
- reset got date back to normal
- saw that reset set the date & format fields to values i already tried
- when tried to change my mood theme back from default to the nekos, saw that date screwed up again
- after playing with the reset several times, hit me that rest is setting fields to value either than what's shown
- searched online some more and somehow (and luckily) notice use of %% when setting the date
- found this site http://www.livejournal.com/customize/advanced/layersource.bml?id=4472743&fmt=html,
- copied // into date format field, and seemed to work
- since i don't like this format, i wanted to find out how to change it
- thinking it was like PHP, i tried PHP date variables but they didn't work to give me the full name of the day
- went back to site i found earlier, and did a Ctrl+F in browser on % to highlight all its uses
- saw . , (tested it on my journal and found out dayord gives the th,rd,etc in the day e.g. 23rd)
- googled "dayord" and found this site: http://www.livejournal.com/doc/s2/siteapi.core1.html
- skimming down i then saw examples showing what keywords i can use to change the format
- currently using: %%da%%. %%month%% %%dayord%%, %%yyyy%%

Another Good Song; making note ;D
Fri. November 21st, 2008 | 01:24 am
Music: It's too late - Carole King
Aside: What is with the redesign of the profile page?! I don't like it; make that hate it. XP
I would really really like the option to go back to the original. (fingers crossed)
That reminds me of gmail's new themes, cept I like those a lot.
Okay time to sleep.

Password Nightmare + How I Hate change and losing things
Sun. September 7th, 2008 | 03:03 am
Currently:
nostalgic
This got me thinking about my now old layout and how it had a background image that I made myself. Since that background image would no longer be in use, I thought it'd be good to remove it and make room for my web host's file storage. Problem was I didn't remember where that was, and worse yet I didn't remember how to login. ( The overdramatic retelling continues...Collapse )
So in conclusion, I had a password nightmare that I overcame but not unscathed (I learnt I've lost quite a lot of stuff for good). It was a win and lose, but life goes on.
( Aside: Layout notes...Collapse )

Music: "Never My Love" by The Association
Anyhoo, I now have a Wii!!!! Weeee!!! I have a Wii!!!! My arm hurts from all the swinging I've done playing Wii Sports... but it's the "I hurt cause I'm improving myself" kind of pain. :)

A Sportastic Saturday
Sat. January 19th, 2008 | 11:26 pm
Had a lovely afternoon today watching me some Downhill Skiing and Figure Skating (Women's, Pairs, Dance & Men's)!
Thoughts on skiing:
The interesting thing about skiing is that it helps when people falter so as to convey the difficulty of the sport and to give spectators the thrill of the unpredictability of it all. But it's also worrying to watch a skier take a serious spill and bounce around like a ragdoll. I'm glad that after watching a couple of these events, I've yet to see any life threatening injuries, but I have seen B.Miller totally mess up each of those times XD (except for today where he actually finished... and tied for 2nd O_O).
Thoughts on skating:
Since it's not an international competition I thought it'd be boring but actually it showed me new skaters that are quite talented. Especially for the Men's program. Usually I find Men's and Women's more boring than the pair events (though I believe I'm kinda backwards about that; I get the feeling that the single events get more of the hype/respect) since the routines don't really hold my interest between the jumps & spins. For the Women's that was true today, but the Men's short had moves I never noticed before so I was happily surprised.

Tears of Relief ;;^_^;; Crisis Averted!

Given that I'm a person whose interests (i.e. GW) have remained static for many a years, I often visit fic sites that have been neglected for quite some time. So there I was going to one such beloved site, only to see the enemy "Page Cannot be Found" error.
The panic I felt at the possibility of never reading those ficcies again. But after much fearful scrounging, I've found the stories located elsewhere!!
So here I am coming out from my blog hibernation to celebrate my luck.
Though I truly hope that the site is just temporarily gone. It's sad really, this happened to me with another site 1-2 months ago. It makes me nervous thinking about what could go next.
So in the end, I chuck this experience as all part of the bigger problem I have with the net: Abandoned & Closed Sites (<- major pet peeve and major heartache)

I'm A Bloglazy :P
Fri. February 23rd, 2007 | 10:35 pm
^ Best sums up the reason why it's been over a month since I last wrote an entry. Yep I'm a very, very lazy person and even typing a few words can be an exhausting task. But I'm coming out of the blue to document the cuteness that is Tamagotchi Visual Style!!
I suppose it's style isn't very original, perhaps it's all part of the typical Japanese kiddie-cartoonie-cutesie look, but I love it's vibrancy! The wacky smiley faces and the wonderful use of gummy colours. Just saw videos of the Wii's Tamagotchi Party On! game. Looks great to me! Can't say if it's fun to play but I hope for positive reviews when it comes out this spring.
Ok now back to being my passive, lazy self. Maybe sometime soon I'll have some energy in the near future to design an icon or two, who knows.
Cheerio!
