She can dance if she wants to...

She gets irritated with Jeremiah at one point in the video. He kept pushing those buttons!

She's on the move...

So today when I got home, I put Eliska in the play yard downstairs because I had to run upstairs real quick for something. The little girl was screaming bloody murder because that is NOT what she wanted. When I came downstairs to rescue the fair princess, I found her standing up in the play yard using the top rail for support. She pulled herself up to a standing position for the first time. She's been able to push herself up for sometime, but this is the first time I've seen her actually pull herself up. Wheeeee! The rest of the night she kept pulling herself up on anything that she could. Just a matter of time now kitties before you won't be able to easily hide from Eliska by jumping onto the couch.

Bless the X-Games

So, I'm watching the X-Games and super pipe snowboarding. The same people that brought us

pimp slap the pipe
sick amplitude

have now coined 'Blizzaro'. The word is to be used in reference to heavy snow during a half pipe competition.

That is all...

On Vox: Vox test...

So I guess I'm easily swayed by a bunch of LJ postings in a single day.  Posting from vox as a tester...

New cars and such....

So this coming year, we'll be buying a new (to us) car. AWD is going to be a must. I love my little BMW but the RWD just doesn't cut it in mountain (or city :p) snow. Right now I'm considering the Volvo, Mercedes, BMW and VW SUVs. I drove a Subaru Tribeca (their SUV) when I was in Arizona recently and I liked that so it may be a possibility as well.

Question for the great LJ public, have y'all heard anything about any of those models in the positive or negative? I'm heavily leaning in the direction of BMW and Volvo atm.

Ice ice baby...

There's a lot of ice outside my house not to mention all the snow. I'm wondering if all this ice is going to cause issues once it's melted. I can tell it's already causing some paint to chip on one corner of the house.

yikes it's nuts out there...

Took Eliska out earlier today to get her flu shot booster. This meant venturing onto the icy streets of West Seattle. Surprisingly, the roads were looking pretty decent. We made it to the doctor's office and then down to Burien to hit the Fred Meyer with little difficulty.

Fred Meyer, however, was a mad house. I lucked into a parking spot right away but had to go on the 'great shopping cart' search of 2008 to get a cart. Every cart was being used. You had to be a cart vulture to get one. It took us 30+ minutes to check out as well. Thankfully, Eliska was being a well behaved little girl and got lots of compliments about her little kitty hat*. Shopping carts are not made for the snow, though. I had to pull the cart to my car while walking backwards through the lot. Yeeeesh.

The one hill by the house that I was worried about proved to be no match for my little car. We made it up the hill just fine and managed to make it home before the weather gods started to pelt us with a second left hook of snow. Woot!

Thunder...snow

Thanks to KIRO TV I now have AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck' stuck in my head but instead of the key lyric, I'm hearing 'Thundersnow'.

Anyway, hard to believe that today Eliska is 7 months old. Wow. She's crawling a ton, sitting up on her own and just the other day pulled herself up into an erect position while kneeling.

Happy Holidays to you all from Eliska:

Oh yay!!! It's funny how we can't wait for them to do this stuff. But then when you think about it why do we want them MORE mobile? Then again, MaryJane is such a fast crawler that walking might…

Tasmen doesn't really want to have anything to do with Eliska. She'll stop by and sniff her head from time to time when we are holding Eliska, but other than that, she runs and jumps out of reach.…

How do the cats take to her?

Olivia's cat hated Alex. Kinda went (more) neurotic when we brought him home, and was truthfully never quite the same. ~

Ah yes..the good ole buttery buttery smooth. That's the one I was trying to remember and could not!

Alas, the pipe was not buttery buttery smooth because of the snow that kept falling.
